Possibly - her wife would almost certainly think so... Although I think it's generally used in a rather pejorative sense rather than as a term of endearment.

For the record, I have a wonderful wife (who is not a Diesel!) and a nice car (which is). She (the wife) has a nice car - a petrol. We share the other car (less nice but far kinder!) which is an EV. My bikes are all petrol, although I'm considering an electric one at some point.
