Yes
Something I have never seen in any of the Photo pages I read. Including ones partner . . . ?

Perhaps its me, but we like to do thing together when practical . . . :naughty: Hazel is disabled, back pain and not being able to stand up strait, we thought about it, she needs a walking stick, so a mono pod replaces walking stick, plus ball head with removable plate.

We now have two cameras, three if you count the Canon A640, all have swivel screens. G1 is light, with a great 3" screen, ideal for Hazel, she also has the A640 with swivel screen. I use a Nikon D5000, very under estimated, produces great pictures, the problem is the guy behind it:lol:

The point is, when we are out, which has not been much this year due to health issues for both of us. With a swivel a screen, we can both see on the one camera, discuss framing, image inclusion, colour requirement etc.

Hazel or me will never be much good at picture taking, but, apart from the initial cost of the camera, 'togetherness' dont cost a lot and its fun:love: Would work with kids as well, give them an interest, instead of Dad always hiding behind a camera?

Good post. Fortunately for me - Jan loves photographing birds and critters too, so I know exactly where you're coming from.

the only time my partner (lorraine) comes with is if its

a) not hilly
b) not cold
c) theres something she wants
d) something she wants to see,

tbh i work shifts so that kinda puts a stopper on things as "togetherness" but im trying to get her more involved, iv even thougt about getting her a little d40 so she can share my lenses aswell.

Exactly the point, you will get her more involved if you were 'up close and personal' looking and discussing the image on the camera screen, swivel is best, but D90 on a mono pod in 'LV', does it for me . . . :naughty:

Then there is the interested session at home on the computer, what did they turn out like . . . Like it used to be in the old days, every one wants to see the end prints when they arrive back from processing . . .

Jules has no interest in photography - she appreciates the work I do, but even when I gave her an old D1x, it sat unused for two years until I retrieved it and donated it to my Dad...

My wife tells me to eff off when I point a camera at her. We also have different perspectives on going for walks. I dawdle along takingin the scenery whilst she goes hell for leather ahead! It might be the promise of a glass of rose at the pub that does that though.

I'm quite lucky as me and my better half both like nature and animals, although she only has a point and shoot, she is more than willing to come along on nature walks, her interest is in Fish and plants, of which she knows a great deal, more than most people i know, she also knows a fair amount about bird, so its handy having her along to ID stuff.

My better half has no real interest in taking pictures, although she has loads of photos of the kids and gandchildren scattered around the house, most of which I have taken. Whenever we go out anywhere she always says "don't forget your camera" ~ as if that's gonna happen

SWMBO surprised me last Christmas by actually asking for a camera, so I bought her a compact. I've just checked and it's taken a grand total of 33 pictures and they're all still on the memory card!

One of my grandsons is really interested though and has been using my old Yashica FX-3 film SLR for a couple of years now. We bought him a compact digital last year and I've never known him not have it on his person somewhere. We often head out at the weekend to take pics and he has a good eye for composition. I value our time together and I think he does too :)

Looks liker I'm one of the lucky ones . . . Hazel is no picture taker yet, but she tries, I cant ask for more

My other half has no interest in taking pics but does look at mine and tell me what she likes or dislikes.

Thankfully since meeting her I've discovered two of her friends are really into photography and we've had several trips out combining photos and then meeting up after for a few light ales. Pretty much my perfect day :0)

My wife Julia has a very good eye for composition. Has no idea about the law of thirds yet does it instinctively every time.
If only I could get her to turn the dial away from that little green auto symbol:bang:

I have no "other half" but vikki has recently shown a real interest.

She's 21 now and wanted to get past point and shoot so I helped her get her first DSLR and donated the pentax auto focus lenses I had left from my old DSLR, (18-50, 28-105 and 70-300) along with the bag and a few bits and pieces.
She got me to find her a K200D body cheapish on the net and has been a happy girl ever since.
In fact today she's gone to the zoo with her kit to try and get some shots.

My husband has got quite interested in photography since I have, but will absolutely not have a DSLR as he says they're too big. He had a G9 and then went to a bridge. Hates the bridge camera, so it's a G11 in the post as we speak. I enjoy walks with him as we can both spot bugs and stuff. The recent arrival of a puppy will put paid to that though as so far everything we've seen has scarpered as soon as she sees it!

It’s good to see that photography is a social hobby as well as an individual pursuit. Like others here, Maureen my wife has no interest in photography as a subject, yet she enjoys seeing the results and has quite a critical eye which is a help.
My interest is wildlife which again she enjoys, so walks in the outdoors can be shared, but another bonus for me is that she is a good spotter; she will see and point out wild life etc. well before I do, it makes us a good team and the hobby that bit more enjoyable.
