The Tornado looks good but the background ruins it for me

I think I agree with the comment above. The background becomes distracting BUT the effect does work really well on the aircraft and brings out the detail in the fuselage. It's worth further experimentation.

like the shot but the PP makes it look more cluttered would suggest blurring the background more so and darkenning it to make the plane jump out more?

As above really, the airframe looks "proper aggro" with this PP...shame it does the same to the background.
