I can see the lion face too so perhaps the weirdness is spreading ! Nice image.

It's kinda fun setting something up and then having to shoot it before it's too late, isn't it.
The tendrils definitely make this interesting. A few seconds later and all you'd have to show us would be a piccy of two paint splots, so well captured.
I also like the texture in your image.
ps. Hope the glasses are okay.

Now that was brilliant timing 
I like watercolours too, and there's something very relaxing about getting 2 splodges of paint and watching them unfurl and merge. I'd never thought about capturing it photographically before.
Definitely a unique take on the theme, colourful and abstract and I love the way you've caught the texture of the paper.
It's like one of those Rorschach inkblot tests.
I see an alien head with tentacles around it - with the rest of the red splodge being the neck and shoulders

Play... Excellent image... I don't think I'd have got Harpsichord, but I was in the right ball park. I like how you've done it.
Chemistry... that's worked really well.. the way the paint has mixed looks like a weird chemical spill too... I agree with Darren on the number of different things in there.

Thank you, Rob.. You're right, I did have fun doing this. It took a bit of experimenting to get the consistency of the paint right first, and then there was the fun of trying to catch the effect.
Fortunatelyatercolours wash off easily.

It's worked really well, and as others have said, it's a tribute to good timing. A good take on the theme - and thank goodness you didn't get paint on your lens.

Thank you, Sarah and Jean. I had a lot of fun doing it. The face looks like a lemur to me but I like the thought of an alien.
One of those times when it is worth using a filter on the lens!

I love seeing photos of people going about all their different activities. I am a huge admirer of the likes of Cartier-Bresson, Lartigue and Dorothea Lange, to name just a few. I wish I had the nerve, skill and time to set about documenting our daily lives.... so in a way I quite enjoyed trying for some candid shots. My reactions are just a bit too slow, though - why do people have to turn their heads or move off just as I'm about to press the shutter! :bang:

Have you noticed how often we are accosted by market researchers and the like? The ones in the red tops were from the Red Cross, and I'm really not quite sure what they were doing, but it involved some electronic gadget :shrug:.

Another feature of modern life, I'm afraid. They don't look as if they are enjoying it much.

Like both of those ! The red t-tops really stand out in the first. I like the fast food .. they certainly look as if they are in a hurry.

I like it though.
Those red jackets really stand out and give it some punch and there's a nice story running through it. I like the little details like the briefcase on the floor in the first and the umbrella in the second - they're all very nicely composed.
Not too sure about the second one. It's well shot, but it's not really drawing me in or interesting me very much :shrug:

The tryptych tells a good 'candid' story, with plenty to look at in each shot. Very nice, indeed.
I love the idea of the second one, but ....errrr .... really not at all sure why I'm hesitating about it. I think it's the angle, but I suppose that's where you were in relation to the people. I wonder if a tighter crop would work, losing the bin on the left and cropping to waist height. I think what's bothering me if that one guy's feet are in shot, but not the others, and cropping would neated it up. On the other hand, the space around them puts the photo into context.
Sorry to ramble, Tracer. And tbh, I'd be happy if my Candids were half as good as these.

Thank you, Sarah, Jean and John. None of the red cross shots was strong enough to stand alone but I'm pleased you agree they work as a triptych.
I took the fast food one from the top of a flight of steps. It had quite a wide parapet and I couldn't get the right position to include all their feet, unfortunately. I cropped it a little but quite like the idea of them striding out of the picture. To me the bin belongs, with its association (for me) of junk food and throw-away packaging, all part of our modern life....maybe I'm making a virtue out of necessity, though.

I can see why you felt that the Red Cross images were rather weak individually and I still find that the Fast Food image is much stronger even though you made them into a tryptich.
Fast Food seems so dynamic to me. The gents are obviously on the move, you have an empty spoon, a very full spoon and one spoon scooping up food - there's so much movement and action in this shot.
I also think it comes across as more candid than the Red Cross shots, mainly because the angle gives the impression that you've had to be a bit sneaky in order to get it.

Thank you, Rob - Fast Food is my favourite too. They were in a great hurry - but didn't spot me at the top of the steps!
My first thought was "garden produce", but at the moment my veggie patch is pretty desolate after the awful winter. However a bit of PS on the remnants of the curly kale "produces" interesting patterns.

I think your candid shots are great, like me i guess the more you get out there and try these shots the more confident you get. Interesting shot for produce, quite bizare too as i had some kale today for the first time in about 20 years, loved it too.

Really like that, agree with Gary that it looks like something from under a microscope (could have worked for the Chemistry entry too)

Thank you, Chris - I think I am getting a bit more confident about candid shots and hope to do some more as the weather gets better and the days get longer.

Thank you, Lisbeth and Dan. Solarisation is an old darkroom technique - I never tried it myself in the darkroom but remember reading articles on how to do it in photo mags.

'Mutuant Kale' made me laugh. Definitely a good take on the theme, and at first glance I thought is was something made out of satin.
