3 Spits going after BF109...........Cracking shot but there is a B&W conversion in that shot that would put it in a whole new ballpark, and I am not entirely sure its a BF109 the nose looks wrong......too small, anyone here got the planes reg

It sounded to have a Merlin up front :eek::eek::eek:
 
It does have a Merlin up front. It's not, strictly speaking, a Messerschmitt Bf109, it's a Hispano Buchon which is a licence built 109. They couldn't get enough DB engines to the Spanish and versions produced after 1945 were fitted with the Merlin.

Likewise the He 111's used in the film Battle of Britain are fitted with Merlin engines and not DB's or BMW's as they were ex Spanish AF.
