WAMT....what annoyed me today!

On a more cheerful note a bulk box of 100 Jaffa cakes was less than £4 at Iceland this week.....
Tesco, Jaffa cakes a box of 20, £1:95p
a box of 10? 50p
It didn't annoy me, just baffled me TBH.

I must admit I never really keep an eye on the weekly shop that close, if we need it, we need it.

What does hack me off though is the increasing number of products that cost the same but the size/content has been reduced. One product hade the nerve to advertise on the front of the packet, 'now cooks quicker' IT WILL DO IF YOU TAKE OUT 25% OF THE CONTENT!

The good lady wife and I 'don't do Christmas' and hate mixing with the 'general public' so you can imagine going into Salisbury Saturday was a nightmare.

People buying festive things, wearing festive garments and bloody Christmas songs in nearly every shop we visited.

Thankfully no one has tried to bring religion into it thus far!

BAH HUMBUG!

One shops?

One doesn't. One gets one's man to do that for one. What are we? Poor? :D

We stay away when the shops get crowded too.

I accidently let a BMW driver out of a side road this morning, it’s going to take me a while to get over this one. Moreover, he did not say thanks you!

I've test driven a few BMW's but never bought one. I do remember trying to turn left out of a side road once and no one letting me out. There were some lights a few yards to the left and I sat there through change after change. I had thought that someone would leave a gap as the lights changed to red, as you do so as not to block the junction, but oh no, people would just park across the junction looking straight ahead as if a glance at me would turn them to stone.

Having said all that MBW drivers deserve it :D

I am kidding :D

Well said, sir!

One is fortunate as one's man appears to be paid by a shop (Oh, one really loathes such a word) called Tesco. One believes other better class establishments catering for all possible requisties are available.

Why should he, he had right of way anyway, or is that just in France?

Just pull out, that'll stop them, they'll be expecting it anyway.
It's what I do when I'm in my BM. Worked so far.

One of our neighbours. We live in a ground floor flat, she and her 3 daughters live on the 2nd (top) floor in a rented flat. No idea who pays her rent as she doesn't appear to work. They never seem to dispose of their rubbish properly. We have a rubbish shed at the end of the block of sheds. Sometimes they will leave bags of rubbish behind the end shed at the opposite end to the rubbish shed, sometimes they will leave them outside the gate that leads to the sheds, they have even left the bags of rubbish outside the rubbish shed door, meaning it has to be moved, so people can put their own rubbish in the bins.
A few months ago, they left a huge wooden headboard leaning against the wall outside our front door. Today there is a single bed base, mattress and headboard dumped in front of the shed door so no one can open it again.

To be fair, they can't win here.
Put the price up, people whinge.
Keep the price the same but reduce the content, people whinge.

Maintaining the packaging size while reducing the contents is designed to mislead; the more honest approach if the product has become more expensive is to increase the price.

But the weight is still on the packaging and the price label on the shelf will also give the price per 100g, so it's not really being hidden.

Wagon Wheels are a pale imitation of their former selves, Kit Kats and Penguins fare no better.
Everything is shrinking, are people really that concerned by a small price rise
Think many would prefer a product that can still be seen with the naked eye

But its a bit like end user accounts, who reads the small print?
I bought a kilo of sugar earlier, I never checked to see if it was only 950g
TBH its been so long since I bought any, I've no idea what the price was last time.

True, but many people will not remember the 'weight' & price of a previously purchased product, especially if it is something bought infrequently. A case in point is tubs of chocolates at Christmas, many of these have decreased by 20% or more in the last 5 years.

If no one remembers the price or weight, it doesn't really matter then. Good way of fighting obesity anyway. ;)

Yep they are shrinking faster than a flasher's todger on a frosty morning :D

Doesn't work, just end up eating two of the two finger Kit Kats now where one used to suffice.
Even toilet rolls have decreased in size, packs of nine are definitely less bulky.
So much so that they have dispensed with the little handles to carry them with.

Depends on how many kit kats you buy in the first place. If you only bought one, there isn't a second one to eat. :)
Not all toilet roll packets came with handles. Probably more a case of, if others can do without, may as save money on the tooling antime for making the handles and do away with them. They can go in a shopping bag anyway.

They are smaller and whoever bought just one two finger Kit Kat?

Well people who wanted more would have bought a 4 finger kit kat anyway, so unless they intended to share the other two fingers with someone else, they would have eaten all four anyway.
Not that I have eaten sweets in 30yrs or more, but I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to eat more than 1 finger to be honest, not exactly exciting are they.

So not exactly your specialist subject then?

Well if it said 1kg on the bag and it was 950g, that's product misrepresentation which would fall under false advertising.

Clicking on threads that have been posted in for the first time in months and I am taken to the very first post instead of the first unread post.

With 91K users and 637K threads, I suspect Xen expires the older read logs to keep the database size down.
I'm not sure what it's exact parameters are, though.

Either just click on the last page or just the last posted on the right, that takes you to the last post and you just need to scroll back a bit if there are other posts

That was the point I was making it *looked & felt* like a Kg, but I never checked the small print to confirm that it was. (y)

That'll be cars, particularly Ford, and lifting chairs is easier if you are a woman (y)

Not true apparently, (from Wikipedia)

"There have been many debates amongst fans of the biscuit about its size. Wagon Wheels have supposedly shrunk in size over time, but Burton's Foods Ltd has denied this. It has been suggested that the supposed shrinkage is due to an adult's childhood memory of eating a Wagon Wheel held in a much smaller hand; this argument is perhaps moot, as it does not explain why the modern Wagon Wheel appears to be fatter than the original. Furthermore, in Australia, Arnott's has stated that tray packs of Wagon Wheels were in fact 'Mini Wagon Wheels' and have re-released the original 48g Wagon Wheels.

The original factory in Prestonpans produced the biscuit with crinkled edges and corn cobbs rather than the updated smoother edges. This caused the overall diameter of the biscuit to shrink slightly, but not as much as fans of the biscuit believe.

Also, although the UK Wagon Wheel has barely shrunk, it is still noticeably smaller than the Australian equivalent. As of 2006 the diameter of the Australian version is measured at 88 mm which is 14 mm larger than the UK version, while the UK Wagon Wheel is notably thicker by 4 mm".

WAMT.....Somebody believing chunky Kit Kats are better than the fingered variety. o_O
