What shall I do with 254 CDs?

So I tried shattering them outta freezer - not cold enough! Nitrogen would be fun to play with though. I also set one on fire and I found out that it melts so fast that you simply don't have to burn it. Think that's how I'm gonna take care of 'em all, but I need it to be dried outside, as now it's so wet that I'd need gasoline to keep the fire burning, and I don't have gasoline. Until then, time for fun projects that I may or may not do.

Oh, I also set one swinging at a concrete wall and it broke so slowly! Resilient little... *cough* I could bend it to touch the sides in my hand too, which is insanely resilient. Oh, and here's a picture (just took it!) of a disk that is STILL working PERFECTLY! After a real nice knifejob. The knife is sharp and I pushed it hard into the coating.

You didn't think it was worth scratching the side containing the data then? :D

I wanted to see how well protected the disks are. About to put my knife to a cheapo disk and see how well it holds up to this one.

It appears that DVDs are FAR more resilient than ANY CD. Though I don't have low-quality DVDs to try my knife on, but I believe that it will hold true anyway.

Barbeque? Just need excess heat and something to collect any spills

I'll set 'em on fire when it'll dry out outside. I hate weather in my country, always wet and rainy. Or dry and hot. Be cloudy, but take away the humidity and the heat, I'm a happy guy!

He did....but not the side that the data is read from ;)
Yeah Ok :p
Loads of scratched discs, but still none on the side the data is read from ;)

For Cobra. Outlined line is a scratch from the other side - this is a CD. No such lines appear on DVDs.

Pretty impressive if it can still read the data with those scratches on it.

Try a bit of sandpaper rubbed over an area instead.

Just to be clear, the knife scratches you have put on, are on the side of dvd or cd with no writing on yes?

Don't have any sandpaper unfortunately. And no, CDs are not resilient at all. Though DVDs can't read data with scratches on that side either, it seems.

Conclusion: CDs are WAY easier to destroy than DVDs.

I was curious why this had run for 2 pages, on the finer points of destroying CD's and you are posting pictures of scratched DVD's thats all.
I'm sure is not a wind up thread in the slightest.

High expectations, eh?

I've got a CESG (secret/IL5) approved shredder, happy to pop them through it for you. Guaranteed nobody can read them afterwards.

I've a new idea of what I'm gonna do with 'em. Destruction-wise. Gonna be fun and should produce some interesting visuals.

C4?
