hmmm it seems I'm special as no one else went my route
D50
D300
D700
D810
D4s

mostly part exchanged for the next move up;) ohhh and if anyone has a D5 they don't want

D70 (The reason I went down the Nikon route, it felt perfect in the hand compared to the Canon 350D :))
D200 (It felt more professional and improved in every way over the D70)
D300 (Again, huge improvement over the D200)
D300S (The only reason I got the D300S was because the D300 got stolen with a load of other gear. :( Great camera though, and probably my favourite camera ever, but I couldn't have justified the upgrade if it wasn't for the burglary. Silver linings eh! :( ;) :))
D500 (Was seriously thinking of getting a 7DII as the D300S was starting to lag behind in high ISO performance and resolution. Thankfully the D500 came out of the blue just in time and is the best crop sensor DSLR imho )

Not sure that Nikon, or anyone else, can tempt me replace the D500. :)

D610 and IR converted D70. TBH although the image quality from the Fx (Sony) sensor is great, neither camera have impressed with build quality or design, and after 3 years of amateur use (probably 20,000 shots) the body of the D610 now creaks when I hold the grip.

I was well late to the DSLR party. Mine are as follows
D50
D80
D90
D7000

Tempted to go FF but budget would probably limit me to a used D700 or in an exceptional case D600/610. Can’t see it happening anytime soon though [emoji174]

Started with Nikon over 10 years ago now:

D40
D90
D300
FE
F80
D700
FE (again)
D750

Now tempted to get an FE again. Still own the D300 as backup and D750

Too many!

Nikon D50 (first digital camera ever!)
Nikon Coolpix S2
Nikon D70s
Nikon D80
Nikon D1x
Nikon D200
Nikon D90
Nikon D5100
Nikon D5200
Nikon D700
Nikon D2X

And then left for Canon!

...........and I thought that my 3 cameras in 16 years was a lot! Why swap cameras so often?

Have always been a staunch Canon shooter...........with a little dabble in Fuji, Sony and Olympus too. Never have i gone to the black and yellow side until now.

Bought a D3300 plus AF-P 18-55mm with less than 3000 clicks for a mere £224. I thought it was the cheapest way to dip the toe in the Nikon pool.

D100
Fujifilm S5 (well it was a nikon really wasn't it)
D200
D300
D300s

D3100

D810

and now none :-( as I decided to give up landscape photography and have sold all my Nikon DSLRs and Lenses.

D7100
D7200
D750 x2

Still have all. The D750's are regularly used, The D7200 when I want additional reach with the 70-300, or with the 10-24 until I can cost justify a 16-35 F4. The D7100 with 16-85 often rides with me in the car when I'm not carrying my usual kit, just incase I come across something interesting.

D3000
D300
D7000 X 4 ( had one after the D300 then sold it and kept moving back and forth from mirrorless which explains the others, still tempted to get another or maybe a D7100)

I rarely buy a camera (I keep them for years). Of course I'm a consumer, but it seems that the consumerist culture has swallowed the world. It seems strange that some of us can dither about what to buy next, whilst others might be starving / living in a war zone.

In the last school I taught at I was conscripted to coordinate (make) the yearbook. I stipulated that I needed a camera then and got the school to buy a D40x. I was essentially the only one to use it so I'll count that.

D40x (school's)
D80 (gave to daughter so I could get a...)
D300 (sold this to get a...)
D7000 (wife wanted this one when I got the following two...)

First was a D80, then a D90 and now on a 7100. Currently looking for my next body but no ideas. Never gotten on with Canon because i'm so used to Nikon and never felt the need to change.

I went through this recently and eventually upgraded from a D7100 to a D810 and would definitely recommend it. A superb camera indeed.

Funny story:

D70
D200

(a few sidesteps Olympus Pen-1, Leica M9, Sony Nex-3, Nex-5n, NEX-6, Sony A7, Sony a7r2)

D800 (to take pictures of cars in motion, Sony AF disappointing)

(The D70 and D200 I gave my wife, who has several Nikons, latest is D750)

Before that I had a few Olympus compacts with Underwater housings.

It takes me longer to get used to a camera than Nikon to design and produce them. At least it saves me money.

My first camera was also a Nikon, but it wasn’t digital.
