Good first - attempt - can only agree with the above comments. Shot 1 has dome quite delicate water - more by luck if you are really honest - moving water and blown highlights is a judgement call and with this type of shot, a lot of people make the mistake of a "long" exposure with dark filters...
Thanks for setting up this thread. Was considering a purchase but working within ten minutes was going to call in so "google mapped it" street viewed and decided to Google any reviews of the place. Found this thread so thanks again.
I think you have the focus fine, good choice of aperture.
The lighting in the first is subtle. This lighting in the second is rather harsh and to me has an eeriness about it - not being rude and I'm really sorry if I offend, but almost like the witch doctor character out of James Bond "live and...
Just a couple of thoughts -
Number 1 - excellent concept - the picture tells it's own story. B+W and DoF are just right.
The title is subtle.
Number 2 - average. Why ? Your title indicates we should look at the tie.
The tie is grossly out of focus and from that point we look negatively at the...
These are my comments
Number 1 - average like a tourist snap shot - The subject is central and is green against a green background.
You are just replicating what the original artist or sculptor did in photographic form.
Number 2 - More creative - the subject becomes more defined due to the...
Wonderful set of images.
Number 2 - stands out for me - the detailing in the rocks and that glorious sky.
NUmber 3 - nice
Number 4 - a tad dark bearing in mind that 'heavy' imput of land on the RHS.
Cracking angle.
Love the 'lead' in up the front legs.
Love the expression of stunned amazement !
The dog certainly pops out against the white background.
Only my ideas but as follows :-
1 - missed a bit of the back of the narrowboat - like cutting some-ones foot off.
Would have preferred to start the boat right at the edge of the shot.
Like the angle, could that have been a little more jauntier ?
2 - Simple, effective.
3 - What about...
Three rather good images. I presume these are taken with a 70-300 mm lens?
The detailing on the first Hedge Sparrow is superb - especially blown up large when back tracking via flickr.
Got to ask why you have deliberately under exposed the snow drop.
Is it simply to practise in RAW?
I would say expose for the photo no matter what you are taking in - then play with your program in order to learn what the program does.
Have to say go back to the RAW converter that you have...

Sorry about the pun in the title but the inspiration for this came from shooting another waterfall / water movement scene and an obvious nearly released film...
Thanks for posting these here.
I won't critique them but will treat them as a learning experience.
Never having been to Butterfly House I have picked up from your images, and other comments, that DoF and acclimatising the camera are considerations to prioritise.
