Help understanding how to shoot through fence

Or a good quality DSLR with a lens that goes out to f2.8? My personal choice. And yes, I have use BOTH methods. Wide open, high shutter speed, head on. Ultra slow stopped right down, pan. Both work. VERY different images.

First Motorsport Post: FIA GT1 Silverstone

Too far away? Too bloody close. Current fashion is for a VERY slow shutter, and a 10mm... Angles are pretty much up to the individual, ask GP, your admin here!

    Silverstone viewpoints..?

I thought you were. I've seen geezers with 600 f4s on D3, or 1Ds, and pitied them. Not that I wasn't jealous as all get out, but I still pitied them!

    Advice for panning shots

Go Slower. Shoot LOTS. That seems to be the recipe most folks use. I have got shots I like at 1/8, hand held, of LMP1s at Spa, top bat through Blanchimont. 2, out of maybe 300...

    Silverstone viewpoints..?

I've shot all over Sillystone, inside and out, through, over, and under, and round the fences. Sometimes even the RIGHT side of it. I treat it as intellectual stimulation! THINK, don't just point, and shoot. Those talking lens sizes? Are you running 35mm sensors, or what? On crop bodies, 500mm...

    Mercedes Benz World Live '09

I don't think I got a single shot of the DTM. Heads, tannoys, fences, BAH! At least at the end, we got down by the skid pan, for Lewis doing his doughnuts, etc. I wonder if Gary thinks I was signed on? As I wasn't. Punter side.

I took my 4 year old to see Lewis. He came away a very happy little boy. He saw Lewis. Here he is: Though his security got a bit much? After all, he only needed more grunt.

    Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb

Shelsley is such a 'pretty' location, don't forget to go wider... Also, try not to take the same shot from the same place, with the same lens, every time. You do have some variety, but there are a lot more shots you can take? All taken on my first visit, on the same day.

    Brands BSB with flamer

Aston's are easy. I got it with my ancient E1 at 3fps no worries... You just need to watch for a lap or two?

    Is this anything special ?

Looks 'shrink wrapped' to me... There was one sold at auction in the Autosport Show that was blue under the sticky back plastic.
