brilliant, that tables exactly what im after.
yes tripod, wide lens and small aperture were all part of the plan.

I've been thinking of taking a picture which fakes the depth of field to make a small item close up look like a much larger item in the distance.
The hope was to take a photo of a toy car close to the camera and have someone in the distance jumping, which would look like they're on top of the...

ive been looking at the en-el15 batteries for the D7000 and havent found any other knock-off cheap ones elsewhere so thought it might be a bargain.
having had the evening to think about it, i might just wait for a genuine one to come up second hand.
Took a few 'arty' photos on my phone at lee quarry yesterday and after some intelectual debate in the pub (:nuts:) about the merits of each i thought I'd post them here and ask your opinions.

I'm off to rome in a couple of weeks for sightseeing. Does anyone know if there are restrictions on taking your cameras into the major attractions?

I find it really useful as I came from a 50mm on my old film slr.
I got it primarily for bouldering as its about the right length for standing on top of the average sized boulder, but it seems to work well with riding too and wide open its good with the english weather.

like the manual and whip in 2 and 4. im not usually a big fan of panned mtb shots, but these work really well.
locostbob will love these and undoubtedly be along soon.
