    Iconic Photographs

Try looking at Annie Leibovitz's celebrity portraits. Probably plenty to talk about there.

have i done the right thing

I just got a new MBP 17". It is awesome! I looked long and hard for a windows laptop that would be as powerful and as well built but gave up and purchased the MBP. Yes they are over priced but there are few other laptops that come close on performance and design IMO.

    Stonehaven Harbour

I mostly agree with what Sara has said. Too busy and no real focus. It would probably make a good fake tilt/shift image though.

'Ghost Train' - More 10 stop madness!

It's a good idea and a great image. I'd be tempted to adjust the white balance a touch as it's too warm for me.

    Loch Lomond

In the original post? Could be web compression I suppose as the original appears to be in focus. (Although the filters may have made it a wee bit softer)

Cheers mate. I know what you mean, it doesn't work for me either. Pretty disappointing weekend photography wise.

    Loch Lomond

Just back from a weekend away to Loch Lomond and have started processing some of my shots. The weather was pretty horrible all weekend and as a result there aren't many shots that I like. That's the way it goes I suppose, I'll post more as and when I finish processing them. 1.

    Significantly post-processed HDR

If I'm honest I'd say it's ruined what could have been a nice image.

    Manchester "Zombie Aid" Walk

Great shots, although I'd like to see you balance the flash a little more with the ambient light in some. Also you may have overdone the use of the vignette a bit too.

    Photograophy Article: Emotive!!!

Martin Parr's work is hit and miss with a lot of people. I like some of it but think sometimes too much unintended narrative is read into his work by the fine art "luvvies". There's a Time's article here about hima nd his work for anyone interested.

    Beautiful Day at the lake

That doesn't make someone's crit wrong, some people can offer perfectly acceptable crit whilst blissfully ignoring their own advice. You can often be too close to your own work to see the negatives (no pun intended) that others spot straight away. You need to be open to that.

    Beautiful Day at the lake

I don't think the composition works. I think it needs to be wider so that you don't lose part of the left tree's reflection. As others have said the saturation is a tad too much as well.

    New UK Photographer

OK First impressions of your site: - Horrible font and the red/pink outer glow is a bit naff. - "Red blob thing" in the background doesn't work. - Images take far too long to load. - There's hardly any content which puts people off coming back. I'd say go a for simple design with a nice slick...
