    What paint should I use?

We have done all of ours in eggshell, much nicer than gloss. If you're painting directly onto raw wood (pine) i would strongly suggest buying a knot sealer or an proper knot-sealing primer as the knots will seep resin through within a few weeks and it looks awful. Yes - we made that mistake...

    air rifles

Another airgunner here, had plenty of springers and PCPs (PreCharged Pneumatics) in the past. Can highly recommend the Daystate Mk3, get the regulated version for very consistent shot to shot accuracy. These work on an electronic trigger and solenoid system which makes them near enough silent...

    Lake :-)

For me it looks like the sky is a little over-saturated. RE composition, try using the rule of thirds, as this looks like it is a bit 50-50 with sky and foreground. JB

    metering aircraft

Meter off the tarmac or grass? For flying planes? I nearly always use centre weighted, can make the sky blow if the plane has been painted in dark colours though... JB

Red Carpet Events - BAFTAS? Tips..

If you were in Av mode, all you probably needed to do was up the ISO a bit more, as it has been said many times before, it is better to have a grainy photo, rather than a blurred one! ...or use flash ;-) Jonathan

Red Carpet Events - BAFTAS? Tips..

So do you have a press pass, or are you just an "average joe" and turned up, did you go suited and booted? I would like to get amongst the celebs and give this ago, just for the experience and atmosphere... There are a few in there where a slightly higher shutterspeed would have been...

    misty landscape

No worries, I always find that the shot always looks better when you look through the view finder, and then when you get home you start noticing little glitches, i guess, it just comes with experience, which i am slowly learning! Jonathan

    misty landscape

It's a nice image for colour and atmosphere, though i would like to see more of that spider's web in the foreground. Also the diagonal leading line of the edge of the field from the bottom left to right makes me want to try and turn my head and look around the corner of the hedgerow. Does...

Advice on these 2 PAS cameras

A friend of mine has narrowed their search down to these two cameras. Can anyone pick between the two? Both have good reviews, the only down side to the Sony one looks to be Sony Duo memory sticks and the non-orthodox usb cable. These are the cameras is question: SONY DSCW215.CEH...
