    Possible Pallas's Gull

    Given the location it's probably Armenian Gull, part of the Herring Gull complex but now given specific status, at least you can tick it, Pallas's Gull is not that common even there!

    Lesser Spotted Woodpecker

    Chaps, Superficially like a Lesser - sorry but it is clearly a JUV (juvenile) Great Spotted Woodpecker. They too have the red crown not present in the adults. The clincher is the size of the bill, way too hefty for a Lesser Pecker also no streaks on the breast. So Great Spot it is! Cheers Dave.

    All, thought this may be of interest, I dont know if the British Birds magazine that this appears in has been published yet however I have lifted it off another 'bird' orientated photographic website. Appologies for those who have seen it already, however as the purpose of the code of practice...
