Anyone else use 500px?

I have just joined, not really sure what I'm doing but have added a few images... Feel free to add me.

I do like the feel of the site, and the image standard seems to be a different level to flickr.

Added you and immediately voted for one of your pictures - gorgeous work.

As per usual with work I see on 500px - very jealous.

Just signed up, will migrate some of my Flickr stock across, but my Flickr stuff is in a much lower resolution. What's the done thing with regards to res, since people are able to buy direct I guess the full size jpgs typically get used?

http://500px.com/ChrisStevens is my 500px. Follow me!

I have to say the quality of some of the images on there is blowing me away.

As a real amateur who is still firmly on the foothills of learning and only eyeing the mountains the rest of you are scaling, I find the quality of stuff on 500px a tad awe inspiring. However posting there really forces me to push forwards in learning, it's a great tool for inspiration.

You can do it, but you just need to trim the embed code. I agree it's a pain in the arse.

i.e. this:

<a href="http://500px.com/photo/12294581"><img src="http://pcdn.500px.net/12294581/1daf9dce27609817eb37bdec7d8804e95686eb30/4.jpg" alt="Queen of Darkness by Herbert West (HWest) on 500px.com" border="0" style="margin: 0 0 5px 0;"></a><br/><font style="font-size: 120%;"><a href="http://500px.com/photo/12294581">Queen of Darkness</a> by <a href="http://500px.com/HWest">Herbert West</a></font>

gives this:

I use Imageshack to host the low res images I want to show on the internet, and 500px for the high quality (at least as far as size is concerned ;)) which I don't really want to post in other places. Obviously that is in the hope that someone likes a picture enough to buy it. It hasn't happened yet though. :shake:

I think some people are wanting all things from the one site. If that dilutes that to people just using it as a hosting site, then I think the quality, which is generally very high, will drop, and it will become just another Flickr alike.

I never believed in 500px to be any good, until I tried it! It's soooooo good, and looks better on my new iMac. Wish there would be more people on there though, but all in all better than Flickr, of which I've been a pro member for a bit over 2 years.

Still wondering what's good about it

I had signed up to 500px and uploaded some photos, enjoying it a lot. Went on yesterday and found that my account has been deactivated and all my photos deleted. Any ideas why?

Well, the interface is much more user friendly. It flows better. The "liking" and following system works better. And the feature "photo flow" is just insane.
Flickr is quite dull and boring compared to 500px. :)

Totally agree....
