Anyone else use 500px?

I've just signed up. First impressions are quite good, I much prefer the design to Flickr, but the uploader seems to be a bit buggy; it sometimes takes me multiple attempts to get a photo uploaded.

Here's my link: http://500px.com/tjones, and I'm following a few from this thread too.

Some nice shots on there - like the shot of Geraint pulling the Sky train along :)

Uploader definitely seems flakier than a leper dipped in itching powder, and I seem to have Babelfish open all the time, set to Russian/English conversion to read the comments of others, but apart from that, it's looking okay so far.

has anyone pointed their domain to use 500px as their web pages......if so can you post you web addy so i can see what it could look like......thanks

They are down atm seem to be victims of their own success!

Upgrade time - they've tweaked the display so that the ratings only show when you roll your mouseover the picture, rather than having the % on show (or n/a in most of my shots ) all the time...

Mine doesn't have too much on it at present, only a few film shots. I think flickr is better for me for bulk sharing but I will put some of my favourites up on 500px too.

I dont like it now. Before I could spot a 27.0 in between all the N/A's. Now I have to hover over each one and face crushing disapointment over and over again.

Set-up a trial account, then realised that there's a 20% discount on the awesome acount (use voucher code "friends") that would allow me to use my own domain.. a useful alternative to creating your own website if all you're looking for is a portfolio site.. something that compliments Flickr for me rather than replaces it.

Love it.....quality is so much higher than Flickr and the comments are much more genuine rather than the usual sycophantic drivel on there.

It is a little humbling looking at the Fresh stream....but also inspiring!

ive added everyone in the thread. i might even add some photos...

Don't strain yourself now, you might do yourself an injury! :D

i looked at some photos that i was going to upload..then made a cup of tea. all tuckered out now!

quick question, the ratings of your pictures - what is it out of?

How does it work?

Cheers

The more votes you get the higher rating you obtain. However, the more votes you have, the less each vote is worth. For example I voted on an image that was rated very highly and the vote didn't change the rating, so I guess that once you're in the 90's, you need to get a lot more votes to see any significant difference.

Just registered. http://500px.com/ziggy
What i like about this site is that it provides the interface to Facebook. Hopefully they will make it easier to share the photos between 500px and facebook. I hate flickr because they seem to be against facebook or any other organisation who could be a competitor for them.

Jumped on the bandwagon ^^ /IgorFB

I've signed up a few days ago too, mainly because of this thread so 500px seems to be getting some added users from here lol

I like the layouts etc, was just about to go pro on flickr, don't think I'm good enough to go awesome yet ;)

I'm on, like it a lot - will add everyone in this thread. Had no problems with the uploader, but my pix mostly under 500kb so they don't take very long to upload.
