Canon EOS 6D Mk2 Owner's Thread

There is no doubt the camera is going to take decent pics and will be an upgrade for a lot of users, however IMO Canon have not delivered.

Yeah people are going to jump on the bandwagon and say I have never seen the camera, never used the camera blah blah blah, but for what I want the camera for, this 6D MkII is not for me.

I have a D750 and not a Nikon 'fanboy' and chose it over the 6D.

Was waiting for the MkII as thought it might be an improvement for me on what the D750 offers, but it does not.In actual fact you could say its actually worse for my needs. I think Canon had an opportunity to take some customers away from Nikon - especially with Nikon recalls of late, but unfortuantly I am not one of them.

Of course, as mentioned, IMO!

No need to get personal.

If its ridiculous, explain why it is and perhaps I'll think differently. Whether I have run a business or not has nothing to do with it as far as I can see (and you don't know if I have or not, so I suggest you don't make assumptions or judge people).
Because purposely releasing products that aren't as good as you can produce harms the business. Companies can radically alter their fortunes by creating a genuine market advantage. (Like Nikon did when they adopted Sony sensors*)
There was nothing 'personal' in my statement btw. Have another read. :)

*Canon have gambled on their business being more robust from not having to rely on a 3rd party for their sensor tech, this is expensive for them, but at least they control their own destiny. What would happen to Nikon if Sony decide they're no longer interested in producing sensors?

I apologise to @Phil V for falling out with him and anything I said. I suggest everyone else falling out here calls it quits also

I believe canon is capable of making sensors that compete with Sonys, they just feel its not needed or worth whatever extra costs that'll incur in order to sell and make profit.
Meanwhile the longer Canon feel like this more of a lead the competitors are gaining.

Well, my 6d2 arrived today!
RIGHT. Go start a new thread to talk about the ACTUAL camera and how it ACTUALLY handles and performs. Hopefully this one will wither and die.

Just kidding. Thought I'd give the thread a glimmer of hope.

I feel guilty now.

you could have just posted some under exposed ones from a 6d mk1 lol

Not where it counts. Market share!!

Do you actually know who has the biggest market share for sensors? That's where the real money is, it ain't Canon that's for sure!

Ain't Nikon either. And Canon sell the cameras which probably suits their business model quite well.

Sony is probably one of the best if not biggest manufacturers of sensors, Nikon, Fuji and most of the smart phones use Sony sensors.
It's easy to see why many use Sony supplied sensors. :D

if you include medical imaging sensors both fuji and canon are huge.

Canon also sells printers among other things. I imagine canon will survive without the camera business (like minolta did for example). In fact I wouldn't be surprised if cameras was only a small part of their whole business.

Nikon on the other hand is a different story... they are all about cameras

Nikon make a few other things, medical equipment, microscopes, semi conductors, measuring instruments and a few other things but they're not as big as Canon.

Canon make sensors for military and special services no doubt.

Electronics company Canon has developed a 250 megapixel sensor for use in digital cameras.

Canon said the sensor is sensitive enough to read lettering on the side of an aircraft 18km (11.1 miles) away.

However, it added, the gadget was unlikely to find its way into domestic cameras or smartphones.

Instead, the ultra-high-resolution sensor could find a role in surveillance systems or other specialised applications.

Yes they do, but my point is for canon camera business is probably a small of the business while for Nikon it is probably a very big part.
I may of course be wrong... happy to be proved otherwise.

Sony too make more then camera. In fact when you think of Sony you think of PlayStation and TV. Sony also have there own film Holywood studio. I think Sony as a whole are bigger than canon as a whole?

Yes I think Sony is bigger than Canon. Think its one of the bigger ones of all the brands that produce cameras.
But I was comparing Canon business vs. Nikon.
