D500 is very touchy with batteries, newer 3rd party 'chipped' for the D500 should work fine but standard batteries won't work.On a side note, none of my 3rd party batteries work in my D500. I've not tried them in the grip (usually a workaround) but definitely don't work in-body.
My LPS owner told me the same thing when I bought my D750, I just happened to mention spare batteries and he went on a tangent about D500 being touchy with batteries.D500 is very touchy with batteries, newer 3rd party 'chipped' for the D500 should work fine but standard batteries won't work.
What's LPS? Local Photography Store? My LPS owner told me the same thing when I bought my D750, I just happened to mention spare batteries and he went on a tangent about D500 being touchy with batteries.
Local photo shop..?What's LPS? Local Photography Store?
Nice set. I like the Escort shot, shame about the blue 'blob' over the front of the car. What were you shooting though to get this overall effect?I've had my D500s for a while now and I am still very impressed with this camera. The speed and handling are phenomenal and I love the IQ, especially for a DX.

How do you retain focus on the car, manual pre-focus?The crowd standing against the railings, I couldn't find a space so I shot through them instead.

thanksYep, shot through a gap in the crowd in AF-S and then flicked it into manual. I tried with AF and lock-on set to 5 but it didn't work very well as some of the brighter coloured coats seemed to interfere.
This was my first thought tooI don't think the raw files are one size - the size probably depend on the content of the image you have taken (some compression). I wonder if the card didn't have quite enough space left for a larger Raw, but one of the i mages came along that was slightly smaller due to its content and fitted on the first card?
I am not used to thinking that hard, this early in the morningThis was my first thought too

Now the odd thing, twice it put another pic on the first card which it had previously said was full.
I'm at work atm, so can't give exactly how it happened, but the first card said it was full, took a load more pics on the second card, and it then put one on the first card, took some more pics, and it put another on the first card. I understand images are different file sizes dependent on content, but to get it wrong twice.
