Personal preference I guess. I have mine set to release I think and just spray and pray at the min.
I suppose when I get used to the camera I may change it

Here is my photo to bore you lot with, One from yesterday, South of France.
Lens was Tamron 150-600 @ 604.1 mm (I`ll never get that bit, 604.1)

I’ve always used release. Happy with it.

nikon is needingg to make a 50-500 just like the sigma for a better range than the 200-500
built to nikons superior quality finish of course

Hi All, I currently have a d750 and love the iq however these days I do mainly wildlife photography so I am considering buying the d500 as a second body manly for the crop factor and buffer. My question is, is the noise really that bad on the d500?? I have scoured flikr a lot over the past weeks and I'd say the majority of photos I have seen of birds/wildlife the noise is awful! (This is no jab at anyone's photos in anyway). I don't want to blow all that money on a dx sensor to suffer with bad noise. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Its not awful we have just been spoilt by the d750 and you just notice it more. I have noticed it a bit more with the sigma 150-600 but have just had to change the way i shoot a bit thats all.

But the af and buffer makes up for all of that haha

My night watchman shot on p106 was at iso10000 and dawn on the pier iso5000 if that allows you to gauge @Harvey Fox

Lovely well captured image. I never even see things like this when I'm out and about, never mind take pics of them. :-(

When I first saw the image it came over as a bit cold. I know the insect is blue, but was this taken with flash?

Hi, looking at the twig maybe the wb is a bit off but hey ho, the Dragonfly I would guess is quit new/fresh.
I'm in the south of France, as bright as it is I always use a diffused flash,it helps freeze the shot and help with detail and shadows.

I thought so. Do you choose the Flash WB, Auto or choose it afterwards?

I had a play and if you click a WB tool on the light part of the branch it really brings out some browns in the background, if you click on the darker part of the wood even more warmth. You do lose a bit of the blue of the insect though, which is really vivid in your original.

Hope didn't mind me saying something.

The Dragonfly was very vivid blue so like I said it's just a slight adjustment. I use wb auto on this camera for the moment. I don't use that wb tool. Say what you like, it's all good.

I'm off again to visit the vultures tomorrow, 2 weeks ago they nearly all went out for the day and what was left they were either way too high or way too low again [emoji35] fingers crossed. After its the provençale lavender fields for the evening, just hope the rain / storm keeps away.

Hope you get to see the vultures then mate.
Its nice and toastie here, heat haze was a bugger today. hopefully got a Battle of Britain and red arrows fly by on saturday very near us.

Miscalculated the shutter speed on the bob fly pass. Didnt relaise they were going to slow up that much tbh.

With the red arrows the 150-600 was too much really needed the 70-200 but that wasnt with me.

These look really good (on the phone) so can't really comment more atm.

Seeing as there are few Aircraft pics, here is one from the other day. I'm in Venice atm, :D and I was going to try and take some pics of the sunset from San Giorgio Maggiore. As I was waiting for the boat to get across, there were six luxury motorboats getting escorted by the Police very slow across the lagoon. Because of the Police I thought it was some criminals had been and they were showing them off.

As I get to the island I see a lot of Photographers lined up ready to take some pics. I asked a chap what was going on and he said some motorboat company were celebrating their 50th anniversary and had set up the Italian Air Display team, "The Frecce Tricolori", whose full name is the National Aerobatic Patrol, to do a fly over St Mark's square. They were due any moment. I had my camera and lens set for sunset. :( As they came over I just pointed up and tried to catch them. Here is one of the pics. It could have been so much better if I had know and prepared. Ah well. It was good to see. :) The D500 did pretty well on focusing all things considered.

I went to the exhibition about the yacht company and the biggest most expensive boat they had was £7.5m, with no extras.
