You don't choose easy subjects! Black dogs are soooooo hard to photograph.
I don't find them bad actually, somehow. I know sometimes I lose detail in eyes/face cos of Exposure but aside from that they're OK, white dogs are a LITTLE troublesome, but as of yet I'm yet to struggle with them too, maybe something is wrong with me/my technique?
You've caught a great expression and I can imagine the conversation - sit! stay! noise to attract the dog's attention. Then do it all again when she moves, and again when she moves again ..... She looks as though she can't wait to start playing. What a gorgeous girl!
Yeah exactly that if you replace noise distraction with bending down, picking up toy and running towards me
Colour v. B&W?? Not sure. I love the B&W shot, but I'm going to vote for the colour version because the lead gets a bit lost in the B&W on her right shoulder.
btw - I woudn't worry about getting out of your comfort zone - it'll happen all in good time and in the meantime, you're getting some really good shots. Most toggers specialise in just one or 2 areas - and if your special area is animals, that's great.
I'll stick to 1/2 areas when I'm actually good at any of them
