looking at buying the nikon 17-55mm f2.8 lens secondhand
any problems to look outfor with this lens ?

Brilliant lens, really is. I seem to remember there were some issues similar to the ones that the 24-70 suffered with the stuff barrel in the middle of the range. The rubbers were also susceptible to oxidizing and turning grey but they could be bought back to life with some careful cleaning. It’s also prone to flare but this could be used creatively most of the time. I did find it awesome for sports but not so great for shooting landscapes with the sun in the frame with regards to this.
 
Been using one for ages on a D7200 and then the D500. No IQ issues whatsoever and built like a tank! Not experienced the flare issue but I don't shoot landscapes.

Bought mine SH from Grays.

I've had mine for a few years now and it's definitely the best zoom lens for everyday use on a DX body :)
