Shades of Grey

This was a personal project based on 4 images, when someone mentioned that there realy should be 50. I started this project back in July, the idea being they would be fairly absract images of building or arcitectural features whose main colour palette was grey - so no converting to monochrome as that would be cheating.

To be honest I didn't think I'd achieve all 50, but a lot of legwork - I think I've walked up and down every street in my home town for a 2 mile radius - I finally got the last of the 50, so here's some of the best.

I've enjoyed this challenge, not only coz it gave me something to do when I lacked inspiration, but it really did make me look at all everyday things to see if they had merit for a photograph. I am working on 2 sets of 5 x 5 thumbnails of the series..

I also realised that this project isn't limited to just the 50 , so I've already started on a 5o Shades Greyer Project.

As always comments anhd crtits welcome...

The last two… for the cool graphic elements!

Very good but I am a bit undecided as to whether #3 really fits the theme because the granite background is visible?

Cool Chris, I did not observe that!
In B&W, it's a darker shade of grey! …the nature is not specified.

The abstraction and contrasting verticals and horizontals make No.5 stand out for me. (y)

Ok, cool!

So you found a niche for yourself, groovy!

Your problem now —cause you just trapped yourself in a big one!— is to let the
idea develop and go forwards. This implies to produce not repetitive work but
rather evolutive work: other material, other contrasts, other graphic approach…

and always improving on the previous work.

This may include a different PP but A CLEANER PP, exploring more abstract subjects
and/or renditions, etc.

You got me excited, don't let me down… please!

I am liking it so far, very graphic style (which I like a lot).
50 imaginative takes on shades of grey, quite a big task, hope it keeps you inspired and enjoying the process.
Look forward to number 6 onwards.

Cool challenge and possibly tough...im intrigued though and hope you post some more :)

Nice arty framing of these objects. They have not only greyness in common but also being metallic and perhaps also being zinc or something like it. But you could take this idea to the next level

Thanks everyone for your comments, it was an interesting challenge to do. Anyway here are 5 more from the 50 I did. Quite a few different textures and objects.
