What a lovely day today :D

We had a lovely time at Paddy's Hole, Redcar.

A7III and Sony 24mm f2.8.

Ship thingy is a Jack-up barge.

Impressive up close when they’re testing them, they go really high (or indeed deep, which is the point. Sail to where they’re working then make a stable platform).
 
It looks like the nice weather has ended here. This morning we had complete cloud cover and flat light. When I went out this morning I went straight back in to put a fleece on. Oh well.

Soft warm sand. We got there early and there were very few people about, more soon began to arrive. This is more so still not crowded.

It's sunny here now too which is nice as I wanted to take a picture of this before it gets spoiled. A7cII and 40mm.

I'm a fan of multi-purpose lenses, and they seem to have come on leaps and bounds in recent years. I appreciate the limitations and flaws with them, but there are often work rounds.

I've a Tamron 50-400mm, which can focus pretty close. Insect photography isn't my big thing, but I like to record the creatures which I've encouraged to my garden as well as I can. I'm pretty pleased with this shot of mating Azure damselflies from yesterday.

This is the whole frame taken at 400mm, but shot in crop mode, on my A7V.

This is a screenshot of the processed pic at 100% in LR. By the way, insect recognition is great!

I've just found out today when in lightroom and using the crop tool you can press "o" to cycle through different grid lines and using shift + O changes the orientation of the grid lines, how did I never know this :facepalm: :lol:

Just in case anyone is interested I've advertised a TTA 50mm f2 and all of my remaining film era primes for sale.

Well, 4 film era primes have sold already. I'll be sad to see them go especially the Rokkors but they're not ornaments and I'm just not using them so they should go to someone who will.

Personally I never really saw cameras, lenses or any electronics as collectibles

May be watches but even then my watches aren't expensive, they are just ones I bought at various stages of my life like when I went to uni, got married, bought a house etc.

The vast majority and maybe all of my film era lenses were bought when I was looking after my mam and getting out was sometimes difficult so researching lenses, finding nice ones at reasonable prices and testing and comparing them gave me a hobby when it was difficult to get out and when I could get out I took pictures I like with all of them.

Watches are another thing. I have something like 30 cheap Chinese ones and I'll be "building" two more and changing the hands on another but again there's a reason for most of the buys as I bought most when I was dealing with the nuclear level family meltdown and legal issues when my mam died so again it was sort of a way to lose myself in a hobby. The closest I came to spending any real money was when I had an Omega 1957 Trilogy set in my in basket for £18k. I don't normally spend that much on myself apart from for cars but I just thought that I liked them and TBH my bank balance is going up faster than I can spend it so why not? But I changed my mind and built a Railmaster homage for about £100 :D That was the only one of the trilogy I really wanted.
 
Just in case anyone else buys a A7RV1 it comes with a charger but No cable or mains plug ,needs to be at least 45w my low wattage cables do nothing .
