The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

@bumper Good to know you’re ok. Know what you mean about getting out and screen time. I’ve managed to talk myself into X-S10, waiting for it to arrive.
Managed to get out during our one snowfall. Can’t post results here. I used my M43 gear.

lockdown doesn’t do much for you mojo @trevorbray

the xs10 will cure it a bit though;)
Really like the look of it, though about chopping the xt4 in for one. I like the xh1 styling but with upgraded internals, its had good reviews on YouTube.

welcome back(y)

Hi all, not been around much for a while due to the obvious! Thanks to all who advised me to swap the XT2 for an XH1 before lockdown last year. That was a great move; I'm loving it.

Got out (safely, socially isolatedly!) with it again at the weekend to the local windfarm (Whitelee). Mix of lenses: Samyang12mm, 18-135mm and a Tamron 70-300 on a Fringer.

A query;

Does the original (elderly) X100 share the same sensor as the X-Pro1 does anyone know..?

No, they both have CMOS sensors but the X100 is 12.1mp and the X-Pro1 is 16mp. The processors are different too.

I stupidly sold my X-Pro1 and replaced it with a graphite X-Pro2 but it doesn’t have the same glorious colour rendition of the Pro1. I still have the original X100 Limited in black and though the lens is soft (compared to the V) it is a lovely camera.

If a mint Pro1 comes up at a reasonable price I think I would be very tempted as those early generation Fuji’s had character by the bucket-load.

The X-Pro1 has X-Trans sensor. The original X100 has Bayer.

There's a lot of criticism of the X-E4 over on DPR.
The minimalist style is not appreciated.

How do you find your X-E3? I'm still unsure about mine, i think i need to play with it a little more

Tony, I think its a smashing little camera which I bought from Fuji Refurb because it was on a 20% off deal with the little 15-45mm lens. I didn't need it but GAS overwhelmed me.

But it is a delightful little camera with superb IQ and I must admit that after initial doubts, I have come to like the joystick and the minimlistic look. I have had both the X-E1 and 2 and felt that size wise they suited me more ( why I let the X-E1 go is beyond me) but, like the joystick, I have come to appreciate its form.

Even though I have had Fuji's for years and thought I knew them, I found this book to be of enormous help as the instruction manuals are a bit meh:

"Fuji X Secrets: 130 Ways to Make the Most of Your Fujifilm X", from Amazon.

XF27mm mk2 looks very interesting.
Aperture ring, WR and OIS too. :)

Hope it focuses quieter than the old one..

EDIT: my bad, no OIS :(

I carry my 50-140 everywhere (in non-Covid times) and would like some extra reach, so VERY excited about the 70-300.

Or I was until I did the maths (below). Not sure there's enough benefit in terms of reach given the f-stop trade-off.

I don't particularly like using my 50-140mm with an 2x extender. f/5.6 feels slow. (Might feel differently if I lived in California or somewhere else which is sunny and bright, I guess)

So I don't think I'd really enjoy a f/4-5.6 zoom lens - and definitely not with an extender.

Code:
XF 50-140mm f2.8 WR OIS
1 50-140mm 75-210mm equiv f/2.8
1.4 70-196mm 105-294mm equiv f/4
2 100-280mm 150-420mm equiv f/5.6

XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR
1 70-300mm 105-450mm equiv f/4-5.6
1.4 98-420mm 147-630mm equiv f/5.6-8?
2 140-600mm 210-900mm equiv f/8-11?

Or, longest end only - easier to read/compare

Code:
XF 50-140mm f2.8 WR OIS
1 140mm/210mm equiv f/2.8
1.4 196mm/294mm equiv f/4
2 280mm/420mm equiv f/5.6

XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR
1 300mm/450mm equiv f/5.6
1.4 420mm/630mm equiv f/8
2 600mm/900mm equiv f/11

Thanks for the info and i will take a look at the book you suggested

Same here. I would love it if they bring out a 300mm f4 lens

Rumours are that an XF150-600 is coming in 2022, images show a white body (like XF200mm) - no idea of aperture though, and also Sigma are expected to start X-mount lens later this year

Former will be pricey, I'm sure.

Sigma lenses/more competition will be very welcome.

The 27mm mkII looks interesting, I wonder does it have silent AF? that would be my main ask, nice that it's also WR and has the aperture ring though

I was looking forward to the mkii 27mm but it feels expensive at £419, I'll wait until they do £100 cashback - in three months time ;)

I'm guessing the 150-600 will be a large lens, maybe too large for my X-T3 - but it is one I would be keen on, although looking forward to the 70-300 - AND definitely the Sigma lenses
