My theme is gonna be...PETS
Wow. What a surprise![]()

Excellent choice, Shorty.
. We'll see!I would never have guessed !!!
How are you going to do this?
Instead of the themed 52; as part of it; or as a completely separate second thread?
I definitely want to keep up with the themed 52, but I do quite like this idea.
I'm thinking of maybe incorporating a monthly or fortnightly "extra bonus shot" to a theme of my own into my main 52.
No idea what theme though . . . yet
Just over a week to decide and then I'll set it out in my rules at the beginning of my 52.
I'm going to keep my second 52 completely separate from the weekly themed one.
I'd never have guessed Shorty was going to choose Pets!Excellent choice, Shorty.
And seeing what you've produced this year, I'm going to love it.
My theme for the year will have to be easily accessible so I think it'll be along the lines of 'Growing Things' , ie plants, etc. I've got a garden, a greenhouse and an allotment and live in the middle of the New Forest, so it seems an obvious choice. I'll firm up my 'rules' because I want to be able to look back on it and see some kind of progress. (Hopefully)
Are you still in, Jill? Sarah?
Jean
So do I just pick a theme of my own choice and stick to that for the whole year?
I'm going to keep my second 52 completely separate from the weekly themed one. Me too. I think mine's going to be a Spanish one
I'll firm up my 'rules' Rules, what rules?
Are you still in, Jill? Yup
Jean
I think you are all as mad as a box of frogs but I wish you all well![]()

I've been thinking about this. I'm not sure that I want to commit to another photo per week on top of the standard 52, but some kind of personal challenge does interest me - I just can't think of what to do.

Well I've now decided not to do a 52 at all but slow everything down and do something along the lines of a topic a month with one longer project over the summer / Autumn using what I have learned so far...
Jan - Composition (Lines - Horizontal / Vertial / Diagonal) - minimum 3 shots
Feb - Composition (Shapes - Circles / Triangles) - minimum 3 shots
March - Exploration / Return - (Go on an outing and take shots. Return later in the month to try to improve on them) - minimum 4 shots
April - Movement (Motion / Moment - shutter speed / panning etc) - mimimum 3 shots
May - Ittens Contrasts (Pairs of contrasting photo's and combining contrasts in one shot) - minimum 4 shots
June - Exploration / Return - Minimum 4 shots
July / Aug / Sept / Oct - Nature Project (Macro bugs / local nature reserve / back garden / Zoos / Birds - havn't decided yet!) - aim for 20 shots
Nov - Still Life / Controlled Lighting - minimum 4 shots
December - I should have 45 photo's at this point. Idea is to choose the best from each topic and create a photobook of 2010.
What do you reckon? I wanted something a bit less structured than the 52 and more focused on trying to improve / learn rather than just get the shot each week.
I want to do some sort of project for the year but don't know if I can commit to a 52 but this looks great. I'm going to mull this over a few beers tonight. Cheers for the idea.
Looks good enough to me, Fi, good luck with it! And I like that you're gonna be 'doing something' with it at the end!
I'm gonna really try and push this project for myself, and try and get things myself improved.
And lust after a d700 *hides*
Good to know it's given someone some food for thought
If you do go ahead with a personal project be sure to post a thread so we can see how you get on.
Thankyou - hopefully I will make it through to the end with something to show for it! Are you still thinking two shots a week for yours?
I'll join you in the lusting... but I'm lusting after a Tamron 90mm macro, Nikon 70-300 AF-S VR and some kind of off camera flash... it could be an expensive year for both of us![]()

Well, my first personal project entry had been completed![]()
