Then they are F***ing idiots.

absolutely and is why during the past week the french govt has acted quickly in tightening restrictions and increasing the punishment ( fines / imprisonment) for those who refuse to comply.
I may be mistaken but I believe that I read a national figure of over 90K "verbalisations" had been issued already to offenders

That said , the vast majority of the population have acted responsibly and accepted the guidelines issued by govt which has to be praised.

The INCREASED enforcements have come about, as they likely will in the UK, purely because of the F***ing idiots!

Thank you and its not a day, just a couple of hours to keep our lungs and heart healthy
I walk these places all year round, in fact have hundreds of photos with hardly another soul in them
That was just an overview, places I go are more remote, it was just to show how empty and flat it is
The air in your garden may be fresher. Again, I don’t know those farms (maybe all organic) but I find a lot of crops stink of pesticide/fungicide/herbicide :).

Only bad smell is from the mushroom composter place or when they spray the manure water on the fields
Worst of all is when the Rapeseed gets going and it rains, vile stuff, not surprising given its part of the Cabbage family

This thread has re-inforced my opinion that a small anti-social minority will cause a great deal of harm as they insist on excercising their "freedom". Regretably their selfishness may well rebound on others as well as themselves with drastic consequences...

I agree. So many people with a reason why things dont apply to them.

Because they might not want anymore folk to know whats happening

According to classified Chinese government data seen by the South China Morning Post, the true scale and of the hidden number of these 'silent carriers' could be higher than first thought.

It said by the end of February more than 43,000 people had tested positive for coronavirus in China without showing symptoms and were quarantined but not counted in official figures, which stood at 80,000 at the time.

that's all I know.

Just been reading about some pubs in Scotland that refused to close
Follow on was that the police discovered they did have powers to close them despite thinking otherwise to begin with.
Not seen anything about how that went, few licences to be rescinded there I hope

I posted a link a few days ago that suggested that on 'average" between 40% and 50% of people with the virus show no signs or very mild signs. With this being higher in younger age groups and lower in older age groups.

Given how little we know about this virus one in three isn't inconsistent with this earlier assessment, but regardless of the actual numbers it further emphasises the need for social distancing even if we "feel fine"

I agree. So many people with a reason why things dont apply to them.

Plenty of others too who want to interpret the government policies to suit their agenda.
Its all quite clear about self isolating and social distancing

Yes, they can temporarily close them for up to 24 hours and the police told the pubs that they would close them in 24 hour blocks until the legislation came in to close them full time. This was after the pubs (a small number) had refused to close until legislation forced them to.

Why is that data classified?
It’s the default position of the Chinese government. Actually it‘s the default position of HMG too but our politicians and press etc sniff stuff out and force them to give some stuff up :(.

Edit to say I never believe stuff in the Daily Mail (my default position) because they are known to make stuff up!

He quite clearly mentioned "another thread" and I've certainly seen others use the term "gym bunny" when conversing with you.

I suggest you report his post if it upsets you rather than derail this thread.
I have only seen the term used once against me and that was probably at least a year ago, probably a lot longer.
His post was reported more than an hour ago, possibly even more than 2hrs ago, not that I expect anything will be done about it, if your response is anything to go by.

until the legislation came in to close them full time.

Is there a set time span that govts have / require for passing legislation ?

I only ask as from what I can see , some govts have been able to enforce regulations much more quickly than others.

Perhaps they already had the necessary legislation in place, i really don't know.

We are going out later for a stroll along a fenland river bank, can't imagine many others being there.
So flat you can see for miles so no problem keeping a safe distance, just have to be sensible about it
Dug out a couple of flasks for hot drinks, sure there are lots of other similar places for people to exercise
I forgot to ask, you say “we”, so will you be keeping 2 metres apart? Before you say “but we live together”, people who see you don’t know that so make sure to do it :).

Why?
Are the TP guardians of the galaxy all seeing

Others can keep 2m apart from us both more easily if we are together

U.K. parliament is sovereign and can do virtually anything (subject to the law) but most have a constraining constitution. US are beginning to find that they may live in a Monarchy despite (or perhaps because of) their strenuous attempts to avoid one :(.

I can’t believe you meant to write that!

Outside my expertise, but as far as I can make out it all depends on the powers that governments have from existing legislation, even if it wasn't aimed at this specific situation. I am sure they are people beavering away at some "public unrest" act or "plague" act from 1597 to see if gives some appropriate powers to the government, just in case it's needed.

So some things they can enact quickly, some things they can enact quickly if rapidly voted through parliament and some things need completely new legislation. The latter can still happen quickly assuming a majority vote in parliament and the lords (a day?).

I think this is broadly correct, and my understanding is limited to the UK.

And this is why we're probably going to be in a lockdown soon

I was in Richmond Park on Saturday morning, going Nordic Walking. Usually no problem getting parking but it was already extremely busy and car parks were full, the usual Tour de Richmond Park was in full flow...

No wonder the gates were closed, fortunately for me it is only a 20 minute walk and I hope the curtailment of road traffic means that the park is much quieter.

I live below the LHR flight inbound path, the point where the undercarriage drops on the southern approach. aircraft (and traffic) noise now replaced by children playing in back 'gardens'.

I find some of the Guardian articles unbelievable too.
We are still a free (thinking) society so you can believe what you want.
However, the UK scientific specialists have said a number of times at the daily press conferences that they suspect are significant number are asymptomatic, so believe who you want.

You've just made that first sentence up.
Your not doing yourself any favours on here.
How did I make it up? You fully well know there is almost no help for self employed, and secondly you know the timescale of this. It's a bloodbath before you even go down with bad form of virus

It may well be, but remember when it was still time governments did nothing, now it's too late and they just spread the cash to their pals in the billions while semi permanently locking everyone and killing all small business. There is no exit strategy in 4 weeks or 12 weeks. Not even 12 months. I can't agree to this. Politically they need to be all relieved asap.

Rumour has it help for the self employed is on it's way.
Not sure how that works for me though as I work through my own Limited Co, probably in the same way as it always, which will be none.

I can clearly see most of you are ripe for total tyranny. This has no longer anything to do with taking your own reasonable steps to avoid infection or spreading it. You want iron fist upon you and everyone else. Well good luck but I really want out of here now

Be careful what you wish for.

I can’t believe you meant to write that!

What?
That I ridiculed the idea of a couple keeping 2m apart out walking when they have just shared the same bed

Does that sound reasonable to you.
Good chance if we had anything we would have probably passed it to the other by now
