TP Charitable Thread - Sponsorship/Donations

On Thursday 15th August this year me and my brother are riding from Whitley Bay in north tyneside to Hartlepool, its a distance of around 45-50 miles depending on the route we take.

We are raising funds for an animal charity local to us called SHAK (Safe Homes and Kindness)

http://www.shak.org.uk

They are a dogs charity based in Alnwick, Northumberland.

The guy who runs it used to work for Orange in north tyneside but left his position to take on the charity full time, their kennels are based in Alnwick.

These guys take care of dogs that have been abused and abandoned and do a great job.

If you would like to donate im asking for all donations to go via paypal gift to cyclingforcharity1@gmail.com so we can make one large donation to them once all the funds have been collected. (paypal gift donations are to that paypal doesnt take a cut)

You dont have to donate much but anyhing would help them.

All donations are to be made no later than the 20th august which is when i will forward on the full amount to shak

Many Thanks

Nick

On September 7-8th I will be cyling from Edinburgh to York with a friend of mine. That is over 200miles in 2 days when neither of us have yet done over 60miles in a day!

We're raising money for Martin House Children's Hospice which is between York and Leeds. It's an amazing charity which cares for children and young people with progressive life-limiting illnesses and provides support to their families. The friend I'm riding with had a son who tragically died at only 3 weeks old and Martin House looked after them brilliantly.

Ladies n gentlebods, like a fool I've signed up to take part in go sober for october, in aid of Macmillan.
Like many my family has been touched by cancer (my mother had breast cancer but has succesfully beaten it, my wife's gran and my own grandfather both succumbed to cancer, one breast, one lung) and through it all Macmillan gave fantastic support to all of them.
I supported some friends when they did the 4x4 event in aid of Macmillan last year but wanted to do something myself so here we are, giving up all alcohol for the entire month of october.
I do like a tipple, so this is a genuine giving up of something I enjoy for a good cause, and I'd certainly appreciate any sponsorship you kind folk can spare.

This year we lost a special grandparent; not only a World War veteran but an amazing person. As a remembrance, I'm fundraising for one of his charities, the superb Royal British Legion.

One way to raise money is I'm giving away a 24 x 16 inch canvas of the below image completely free to the winner.

Milky_Way_Freshwater_West_War_Memoria_Prize1.jpg

To be in for a chance of winning all I'm asking is for you to is donate a minimum of £2.50 to go into the prize draw. That's it! Obviously you can donate more if you wish to help the British Legion out.

When donating, please list your name if you wish to be entered into the draw.

A winner will be picked at random from all of the donors

To donate please visit this link http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fun...ilePage.action?userUrl=DrewBuckleyPhotography

Also if you don't already, please follow me on my Twitter page http://BANNED/drewbphoto and also please like my Facebook page found here http://www.facebook.com/pages/Drew-Buckley-Photography/163822690311110

This way you'll be kept up-to-date and the winners will be announced and then contacted. I'm tying it in with Poppy Day so the prize draw will take place on the 11th of November, however donations will kindly be accepted up to three months after the 11th although you won't be entered into the draw.

Thank you so much in advance, and please share this page with your friends and families to raise more money for the Royal British Legion.

Good luck!

Drew

I'm doing a Movember challenge in aid of CALM which is a charity that helps young men who are suicidal and those left behind if they do it. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 35 and has affected one of our member's, my daughter, in the last few years. I am hoping to raise about £1000 in total so please can you go to the site and help me get to that figure.

I will even post some pictures

I did, sorry it wasn't much though

Thank you. ANY amount is very welcome from £1 to £500 it all adds up and will go to the charity automatically. With gift aid they get another 25% too.

It's a very worthwhile cause Darren.....
I too knew a young lad just recently, who chose to do that.....the sad thing is, it seems that some of these young men were always so willing to help others, yet never asked for help themselves....to others they always seemed so happy and carefree....
I have made a donation and wish you well in reaching your target. (y)

Hoping to see some photographic updates Darren :)

You have to start clean shaven so there is currently for days stubble. Will update asi go!

Thanks to everybody that has donated so far.really would like to get to that magic £12 by the end of it but looking good so far.

I'd like to be able to grow something that the cat can't lick off :(

Hi Russ, I've recently received a big favour from one of the regulars on this forum, and he's refused payment. I just wanted to "pay it forward" and so I've made a donation to your charity event. Best of luck with the run!

Hello all TPers

On Sunday the 7th September this year, I will be lining up with 55,999 other fools/runners to take part in the Great North Run half marathon.
In doing so, I will be trying to raise as much money as possible for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, who raise funds towards cancer research and cancer care. Full details of the fantastic work carried out by the foundation is available here http://sirbobbyrobsonfoundation.org.uk/ but the paragraph below, taken direct from their website, will give you an overview as to the importance of their work, and why I want to help them raise vital funds.

The Foundation funds projects within the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that directly benefit cancer patients from across north east England and Cumbria – and which also contribute significantly to international research into the disease.

Being from the North East originally (with the majority of my family still living there) and having seen the effects of cancer within my own family as well as those of friends, this is a charity close to my heart. Having also had the pleasure of meeting Sir Bobby Robson on a couple of occasions, his charisma, his down to earth nature and his enthusiasm for life was infectious, and this is why I have chosen to run for his legacy foundation.

Should any of you wish to make a donation, however small, towards a charity that means a lot to me personally, then my JustGiving page is linked below.

Kindest Regards,
Andrew

Right guys and girls, I may of started this thread prematurely however, This autumn (dates to be finalised but looking at last week of sept) myself and a good friend will be embarking on the Coast to Coast challenge for a charity close to my heart which is Bethany's Trust www.bethanyswish.co.uk
The coast to coast is a 192 (approx) mile hike, which starts at St Bee's Beach then heads across the lakes and pennines eventually finishing at Robin Hood bay. I will be producing a photobook En-route, in the book i will be showing details of the day to day challenges i will come across, some stunning scenery, then as the people on here that know me, each evening a night shot, varying from startrails to light painting.
I am in the process of setting up a localgiving page for donations and will include a link once it is all set up for those wishing to make a donation, We are also looking for donations or loans of Kit which may help us in this adventure, so far the good guys over at LED Lenser have been very kind and donated me a nice box of their super torches, we are still on the look out for hiking equipment, tents etc, so if anyone has some old bits knocking around, here is your chance to put them to a good use.
Besides physical donations i could also do with some good old moral support, my training has already begun, and can now quite easily manage around 15 miles in one go, all my training so far has been at night (adds to the challenge), and allows me to touch up on my night photography skills. Over the next few weeks i will include a photo on this thread outlining my training session for that night and the photo i took whilst out.
Looking forward to the support from everyone at TP..............

Hi, two years ago my aunt died very suddenly from a brain tumour we didn't know she had! Now a friend of mine is cycling 2500 miles from Cyprus to the UK to raise money for brain tumour research as his sister has it!

This is his just giving page! I know for me donating is a personal thing and Jona will greatly appreciate even the smallest donation! His target was £2740, that's the cost of one days research. He's now surpassed £5, 135! He is coming to the end of his amazing journey now so a big final push on the donating will really give him the push to finish!

This was him the day he started on the 02 March!

Many thanks in advance for anyone that can spare a penny for this cause!

DISCLAIMER: I've been advised that there is a charities section within OOF! Please ask Yv!!

The 400in4 team (a mixture of Met Police and RAF) will be cycling 400 miles in 4 days to raise money for the Jon Egging Trust. To support the effort a number of unique items are being auctioned via eBay. The first 3 items are prints of the Red Arrows, IV(R) Sqn and 208(R) Sqn. These prints will be signed by the crews of those Sqns and framed:

1. Red Arrows print to be auctioned for the Jon Egging Trust by StampedeT2, on Flickr
This is the Red Arrows print, the auction can be found here:

Additionally, 22 Sqn have supplied a truly unique item. They have provided the blade of a Sea King tail rotor which has had a SAR scene painted onto it it by a local Welsh artist. The blade auction will include a potted history of the blade, including notable aircrew who've flown with it and notable missions in which it was instrumental. The link for the blade can be found here:

Hi All,

Thanks for taking the time to read my post... hopefully im putting it in the right area (and that im allowed to post this?)

In October, im cycling 450km across Madagascar to raise money for a charity called JDRF - A Type 1 diabetes charity that is close to our families heart.
You can read our story and donate here: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/forabigail

The three of us completing this challenge are not cyclist and have only really been training once we signed up to this :)

Any help will be greatly appreciated and all the money raised is going direct to the charity!

March the first next year i'll be running the Grizzly race (20 miles of coast path, beach , bog and hill) to raise money for JDRF , and specifically for kids with type 1 diabetes. My friends little boy has been recently diagnosed with both type 1 and related autoimmune arthritis - he has to manage his diet carefully, he walks with a stick and is due an operation to drain corrosive fluid from his knee joints. He's four years old :(

This sucks , and life really isn't fair sometimes etc etc - however I've taken this as the spur I need to get back to the fitness level I had in in 1993 , and run this race to raise money so that hopefully there'll be a cure one day for kids like Oak - my target is a somewhat stretching £5k , so please give whatever you can afford to help achieve this

Just giving link here https://www.justgiving.com/Run-for-Oakley/ my sister has pledged to raise £100 from her friends if I run the race wearing a pair of fluffy bear ears. ( I am not running it in a bear suit so don't even go there .. but I am open to other 'reasonable' requests either on the day or in the interim if they come with sponsorship attached.)

Whether you're my biggest fan , or groan with abhorrence every time you see my screen name - this isn't about me, this is about a little boy who deserves better than the s***ty hand life's dealt him, and the other 29,000 kids like him in the UK.

As today (31st July) marks the 5th Anniversary of Sir Bobby Robson's death, I felt it a good time to repost a post I made earlier this year:

I have recently become a Co-founder of Remember My Baby, a new charity run in the UK by UK professional photographers for the benefit of parents losing a baby before, during or shortly after birth.

Its not for everyone, but we pride ourselves on providing comprehensive support, training and resources for volunteer photographers to contact their local hospital with a view to establishing a link to provide Remembrance Photography.

There are over 300 maternity units/birth centres in the UK, and out goal is to link at least one photographer with each one.

Please visit our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/remembermybaby in the first instance, you can message us through the page, or email info@remembermybaby.org.uk. Our website is under construction and will be live very soon.

We have a closed group on facebook for volunteer photographers.

Many thanks,
Nicky

For each of the Autumn International Rugby Union matches we've loaned our front garden to the Gurkha Curry Club so they can sell curries (funny that) to rugby fans before and after the matches at Twickenham this November.( We live on the main road between Twickenham station and stadium, its very busy on match day). Run with the support of Help for Heroes the Gurkha Curry Club aims not only to raise money but also to help former service men and women with some experience of running a small business. They also make a cracking curry.

If you are going to a match or two this November drop by and buy a curry. It's the best food you'll get that day in Twickenham and you'll be helping a good cause too.

I finally managed to get the time to nip over to London on Friday night. I say nip, of course with London Friday night traffic it took me the best part of 2 and a half hours to get from Winchester to my parking spot just around the corner from Tower Bridge. Still I was glad to have made it to see this phenomenal installation; Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red.
I really felt I wanted to do my part to help the 6 charities supported by this, so as well as donating myself, I am offering mounted A4 prints of the below photos with 100% of the profits going to charity. If you fancy a copy, please do get in touch.
Comments & Crit welcomed as always on these shots.
