What birds or bird have you seen today – communal thread, I hope!

Been chasing these dam things around for weeks and only today did I manage a very long shot at 840mm, very cropped but at least got a record shot of one at last !

Some pictures taken today at Hoganfield Loch today. Dull, wet and windy conditions, but quite happy with the results considering.

I reckon you could set the black and white points on these, Gil, to give them some pop as they are rather flat and grey?

Looks similar to a male Gadwall.

Just looked that up @gramps and it does. I haven't seen one of these before - it was hanging around with a female mallard and I just thought it was a youngster - it was really timid too - someone was feeding the birds and it was really really not into the aggressiveness of the rest of them trying to get some food.

Plenty of Gadwall x Mallard hybrids about so no surprise to see both species actively together. :)

I'm not great with back and white sliders on lightroom. Any suggestions on what I should be doing?

Not been out with the camera much recently, so as I have a week off popped up to the local reserve and this gorgeous little wren came to say hello
