A huge pat on the back for all at TP who contributed in any way whatsoever in getting this project to this stage in such a relevant short timeframe - be it cash donations / equipment donations / specialised metal work etc etc. You've all made it happen.

What I find truly amazing is the generosity of a virtual online community when most of us have probabaly only ever met a handful of fellow TP'ers.

Right this was taken by me on MY NEW TOY. It could only have been one person

Julian,

What a set of kit - hope you get great enjoyment from it. You deserve it.

But, what a response from everyone - makes me proud to be on TP. Well done eveyone, but especially to Darren for all the effort he has put in.

Now just go and enjoy, Julian.

Ken

Sorry but I am going to start a new thread I just want to say a few words.

Just seen your images Julian as a slideshow and the video, brought a tear to my eye, Im really happy for you,

Thanks for the images Darren and all your hard work,

Well done TP members

Well, I was sniffling slightly whilst reading the thread at work, then I come home to the pictures...now I'm in tears!

Yes, I'm a daft cow, but even the girls at work have been a bit tearful today as I updated them as to what was happening. Although none of them are the slightest bit interested in photography, they are all amazed at the generosity shown on this site, and have been listening to my updates with growing interest.

The project itself, and all of those involved have been an absolute inspiration.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing your pictures Julian!

Fantastic! :clap::clap::clap::clap:

This is the control panel that Julian has on his photo chariot. It is a prototype which will be replaced in a few weeks time. I wanted to make sure it was going to be right though and we already know of a major change...

This is the view that Julian gets:

wheels_handover109.jpg

The control panel connects to the camera by the standard socket that is on one of FITP's radio triggers. This is in order to use the standard radio trigger cables:

Now a view from the underside but remember that this is a prototype and it will all be tidy on the finished model:

The socket:

And in its rightful place :):

Julian found that the buttons were FAR better than trying to use the camera's combined focus/trigger button and that they were located in the right position. We decided that a second locking FOCUS button would be a useful addition so the final model will have 3 buttons:

1 - Focus lock
2 - Focus
3 - Trigger

All three buttons need to be weatherproof (splash proof), about 1 inch in diameter and reasonably soft to press plus hard wearing.

Buttons 1 has to be latching
Buttons 2 & 3 are non latching

Buttons 1 & 2 are SPST normal switches
Buttons 3 has to be DPDT as it needs to connect three separate wires together.

The buttons will be attached to the final model of plate which is 6mm solid aluminium but the final model will have been powder coated in black.

Sorry but I am going to start a new thread I just want to say a few words.

If it is related to this project would they not be better on here where people who are subscribed will see them

2 late I didnt want it getting lost in the middle of all this. (y)

We have had a whip round too for Julian's wife Lynn to get a present. If she has to follow Julian around day after day then she will need something to keep her occupied:

Oh and she also likes green :) for the Venomator coloured camera.....

I just love all this, its really heart warming that there are people in this world that put themselves out to make the suffering of another human being a lot more bearable.

It was an easy decision for me to push a few buttons on my computer and contribute some money, but the dedication of effort and time by the main culprits to make all this possible will stay in my mind for very long time as will the joy brought to mr and mrs Wheels.

Today i feel humble and uplifted thanks to you guys

Thank You:):):)

Darren,Julian, can we some pictures of this 7" screen in action ? ;D

It's an eight incher

I didn't actually get any of the screen in action BUT I will next time. It is really very good. I want one myself, an 8 inch view finder :)

If you have a TV with HDMI then just plug a Mini-HDMI lead to HDMI lead in and you get the view. I think I posted an example in the original thread with what you see though.

Darren and I had an absolutely fantastic day at Julian and Lynn's. It was an honour to be involved in his big day, and I can't think of a more deserving chap. Great gifts from great people for a great bloke (and lady). Thanks Julian and Lynn, and thanks to Arkady for coming up with the idea and for all he's done behind the scenes, and to Stuart and of course everyone who has donated. The generosity of peeps has been amazing!

Hope you both enjoy your goodies and sleep well

Sorry I wasn't around earlier to comment but it's amazing to reach this point...Julian enjoy...

@Cowasaki and @Arkady

Well done on getting all of this together. I'll bet it turned into a bigger project than you'd imagined it would be at the start. There's a real difference between getting a couple of hundred quid together for a new camera and the logistical hoops through which you had to run to get to this point. I'm very impressed.

Nice touch - well done.

Really happy that Julian can now go crazy with his photography and do it so much easier, - and that you can participate too.

I hope you enjoy that pretty green camera of yours, there's been many times that hubby and I have gone for a wander taking pics and his pics have been better than mine! Looking forward to seeing some pics from you both ;) xx
