After setting myself the goal of photographing a Kingfisher last year and spending the whole of December thinking of what to do this year I found the answer staring me in the face, the 52.
So lets give it a go, I’m thinking with the subject being announced on the Saturday night due to work I will have all week to think about it and spend the Saturday getting the shot it could be tight. So with that in mind I’m telling the kids no taxi’s for a while.

1 I will be using whatever camera and whatever lens I have to hand.
2 As I intend to have 3 holiday breaks this year I will put myself down for 4 Jokers

ok have got my idea, never done this type of photo before so just gave it a try seems ok so will wait for some fine weather

Ok week one Direction

This was not going to be my original choice but it came to me in an inspiring moment this morning, not going down the religion path at all, it was just there waiting to be shot.

Oh blooming heck, we've got a religious nut job here.
Might have to stay away from this thread

Serious comment though, a well taken and good interpretation of the theme. Good luck in all the following 52's.

excellent - I had at least two other ideas which didn't involve road signs but this is very different. I love the bit of tinsel (sparkly thing) peeping out too

Hi Trevor

lovely start to your 52 project....unusaul take on the theme but fits so great idea .Like the DOF...can't see any glittery bits ( naff monitor I think )so yup, good capture

Best of luck for the remaining 51 weeks (y)

Good take on the theme and I like your use of dof (y) I'm slightly distracted by the glitter on the top right edge of The Book, that could do with being toned down imo.

Good sharp shot otherwise :D

Cheer for the comments all yes totally agree about the glittery thing it is in fact the eagles head the bible was propped on but not going to clone it out as I think that the idea of the challenge to learn

Have you and your Son become New Born by chance since I saw you two last Trev?;)

Nice interpretation and DOF works well.

Glitter has been mentioned.

Inch off the top works for me....(y)

Cheers and good luck.

Hi Trevor, I like the pic, the stand has been mentioned, only other thing that would improve it, to my eyes at least would be to crop out a bit of the dead space at the top. (y)

:agree: with what's already been said, good luck with the rest (y)

Thanks for the coments all i agree with the inch of the top (y)

Nice job, I like it. Not sure if a different verse would have suited better, thinking Psalm 139 would have worked nicely.

brilliant Trev, really superb focus and imaginative interpretation.
looking forward to seeing next weeks! ;)

Hi Trevor, after looking through yout flickr the other day looking for examples taken with the 10-20 I'm expecting lots of good things from you.

I like your shot and a nice take on the theme, really looking forward to seeing what else you come up with during the year.

Ok this is my take on fear.

It was taken while I was at work in Chichester College forge I got permission to take a few shots but would have to take them as the students were working so I couldn’t get the exact shot I was looking for, despite the fire it was very dark and I had to up the iso to 4000.

Week 2 Fear by zeb2012, on Flickr

wow that's a brilliant shot, often the flames are too bright, and I love the red hot poker. My dream job would be working in a forge

Hehe only a slight bit of noise there, but at ISO4000, seems bloody good to me.
Great shot though, weren't you lucky to be allowed in there.

Cant help but think it would have been better if you'd moved the scrap wire and ash from the coals before taking the shot though

I would say fear of fire? probably man's most primal fear? one of em anyway

How do you link it to fear?

I was trying to portray the red hot poker as the fear but they wouldn’t bring the hot poker any closer due to health and safety :bonk:

I'd agree, but not too tight so you loose the context. Nicely exposed.

Cheers.

Thank you for the other comments yes looking at it I could have done a tighter crop but I’m trying to get it all right in camera with as little PP as I can and this was as close as I could get.

If you was with me I would have let you removed it for me

Both images well taken and good use of DOF, the crop has already been mentioned so won't bring it up again, good luck with the next 50

Like you're fear picture Trevor. Spot on exposure and DOF and I like the framing of it.

Doesn't say fear to me personally but it probably having worked around hot metal most of my life, but I can see where you're coming from and why others would be fearful of the subject matter.
