    Affinity Photo For WInodws (Beta)

Wonderful program. A few crashes in the first fornight, none in the past ten days. In-house tutorials are short, to the point and informative. I'd agree it had a shaky start, but expected that from a beta. I think we're on the fourth update and it's massively improved.

    Monitor Cleaning

...............except the OP, who feels he's been led up the garden path. When I first asked about monitor cleaning on another forum, some chap calling himself Ken Livingston told me "Monitors are fun and exciting pets, but they can grow quite large ............... " I have no idea who let Ken...

What would you do with the £15 you won with 5 numbers on Lotto?

Not sure how it can be seen as a rip-off. Presumably people read the rules before placing their bet. Why would they expect more money than the rules entitle them to? Maybe it's greed.

    Monitor Cleaning

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will consider them all carefully over the course of the day before deciding on whose sage advice to follow. These vital decisions shouldn't be rushed. Thanks for that one, but I never did see The Karate Kid. Is there a Kung Fu equivalent?

    Monitor Cleaning

I'd like to hire a company to come and clean this monitor: honestly, the bloody thing's filthy. I'll have several hundred photos to edit next week, which will prove tricky if something isn't done. Why don't the manufacturers tell us these things are dust magnets? Is it in case we'll expect a...

    Video lighting challenge

To paraphrase Basil Fawlty: "Pants? That's Erik Satie - Erik Satie's second Gymnopedie pants" I found it impossible to take in all the text with a single viewing. If the video could be doubled in length, it would be easier to read: if it's restricted to 35 seconds, I might think about removing...

    Flying Scotsman Returning to York

The Flying Scotsman will be returning to York, from King's Cross sometime in February of next year. The National Railway Museum are offering four photography sessions, over two days on 29th of February and 1st of March. http://www.nrm.org.uk/NRM/flyingscotsman/scotsman-season.aspx The downside...

    Beginner Swallows/swifts

Decided to have a go at photographing swallows one day when I saw a few flying low over a pond. Stuck the camera on a tripod, focussed on a point where they swooped, stood back and fired the camera remotely. Stayed for about 40 minutes, and while no masterpieces emerged from 25-30 attempts, I...

    New Website

All the buttons led me to the right pages, but without a bit more content, it's difficult for me to say much more. Search button worked fine when I entered "Trossachs" I also entered "Edinburgh" in the search box to be met with the message "No Found". Unless the site is intended only for the...

No. That would require the turntable to be broken.

The broken record goes around and around. We all know what is meant. Perhaps your lawyering skills could be used for something more important.

    Countryfile calendar

Hope you don't mind if I keep my reasons to myself. It wouldn't be fair to the OP if this thread descended to the depths of a recent one.
