Remote shutter release for Nikon D800

A little expensive but the Nikon MC-36 works great. Also just got the excellent Triggertrap and App, worth a look if you have an iPhone on Android smart phone! Cheers, Greg

    Red Kites - my first!

Stunning, particular the 2nd shot :clap::clap:

    Swans and reflections at dawn

Nice idea, but could be improved IMHO by... 1) Shooting from a lower view point, adding some background interest ideally 2) Central compositions rarely work, they don't here 3) The exposure isn't balanced, the shadows are dark

Which Macro Lens for my Nikon DSLR?

105mm VR for me, though macro is the one time I miss the Canon and the amazing 65mm MP-E :'(

Abingdon 2012 Air and County Show

I like the c47 shot best. In many of the others the crops are a little to tight (for me), looks better if the subject has somewhere to go, worse still you end up with a very centered composition.

Avro Lancaster over stalag luft iii

Top marks for the composition , but technically could be improved with a slower shutter to blur the props and exposure is a little off with the shadows lacking detail... IMHO:shrug:

What size memory cards do you use?

2 x16gb for me, no card failures to date, hope that isn't the kiss of death

    Kestrel with a Vole

Fantastic , be really interested to hear some detail on the capture, distance/gear/settings? Thx GS

    Great Crested Grebe

A+ for capturing a fantastic moment. :) Can be tricky to get enough Dof to get multiple subjects in focus, and IMHO the focus is a little off, they also appear a little noisy. Maybe one to try for again in better light. GS

    Owl

Excellent Photo, wouldn't change a thing, for me the tighter crop adds interest, great execution on the selective colouring

    Which monitor calibration tool

Just bought the 'X-Rite i1 Display Pro' from WEX (with a free shipping voucher from Quidco !). Wish I'd bought one a long time ago and saved all the frustration with over bright displays and dark prints

    Hiring camera bodies?

Stuart's service is indeed superb, a little more difficult with bodies I'd suggest Calumet is the safe option if the event is critical.

Black Rapid RS-7 or Sun Sniper

Sun Sniper for me,, seems to be a litte longer than the BR if you happen to be taller than average.

    chester zoo visit

 for number 2. Number 1 looks a little strange almost like a composite, has it been heavily edited? GS
