Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

Sold....once I convince my wife that this is a great idea I will be placing an order tonight! Wish me luck! One last question.......what glass would you pair it with? I have a Siggy 30mm 1.4 that I love, but will likely move to the Siggy 50mm. I will keep the 70-200 f4 IS. The 17-55 2.8 needs...

Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

Thanks Gaz. Yes - I am moving from the 7d mk1, so I think that I am set on the 5d3...you can wait ages for the next bus or get on one now....kinda simple. I am still debating the merits of buying US vs. Grey Import....but I will ask on the supplier forum. Thanks for your help. K

Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

HI all, not sure if this is the right spot but as a 5D mkIII owners thread I thought it was as good a place to start as any. I now only shoot portraits and a little bit of landscape so I thought that I would go FF away from my much loved 7d. However I have a few questions: 1. How does the ISO...

Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM as a portrait lens for living room studio

I had a 24-105 L and recently sold it to give me a better range match for the crop sensor on the 7D. The lens that I replaced it with is the 17-55 f2.8 (I also really wanted the f2.8). This is great for portraits - I personally like the range. I previously owned a Tamron 28-75 f2.8. Not as...

    Lens Advice

For your budget you are probably looking at: 55-250 IS - can be had used for £150 mark (as noted in a previoud post) For the other lens, I would get a decent walkabout lens - the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 is great value for money on the 2nd hand market. Or to get wider get the 17-55 as recommended...

    What is 'the' major difference?

Ciaran, we have all gone with upgraditis before. I started with a 400D, went to a 40D and now settled on a 7D. But as has been said get glass first.... a new decent lens will be the best way to go. For a fraction of the price of a piece of 'L' you could try something like the Tamron 28-75...

Recommend me some rechargables for speedlight

:plusone: After using many others these have proven the best, they seem to hold the charge particularly well if not used for a period of time.

Interfit EX150 MII 3 head Kit - any good?

From the interfit site: "The Sync lead connection only needs ONE cable to be connected to your camera to the P.C. socket or a hotshoe adaptor.(NOTE) when the flash connected to your camera fire's, the other flash head will synchronize the other flash at the same time via the infra red...

    24-105 - swap for 17-55 f2.8.... would you?

Thanks.. I have already had 2 x 50mm f1.8s in the past. One I broke in two and the other was never used as I had a Tamron 28-75 f2.8 on the camera all the time. I suppose that is why I discounted the 50mm 1.8 originally.... but it is a cheap experiment and easily sold on if it does not work.

    24-105 - swap for 17-55 f2.8.... would you?

Just a thought (a dangerous thing) ... but would I be better keeping the 24-105 and getting a nifty fifty? Decision, decisions.... it just sort of feels wrong parting with a piece of L glass!

    24-105 - swap for 17-55 f2.8.... would you?

Thanks for the replies.... I mainly shot people, kids .. indoors and prefer not to use the flash or studio lights if I can avoid it. Natural light always works best for me, which is the reason for the low light requirement. IS is nice, but not essential on this focal length. TBH I am strongly...

    24-105 - swap for 17-55 f2.8.... would you?

I have a 24-105 and love it.... it is on my 7d all the time, but I still find myself craving the f2.8 that I used to have (a Tamron 28-75). Despite the superb IQ I miss the low light ability of f2.8. As the title states the question is, would you swap the 24-105 for a 17-55 f2.8? As it is...

Bump - I am in the same position and would love to hear from the TP folks. My ancient canon died and I need a decent home printer.

    Camera/Photo Clubs? good/bad idea...

I joined a local NI club last year and for me it was great. It forced me to focus more on all aspect of my photography and improve substantially in all areas. However as has already been pointed out - the clubs are only as good as the members so go along to a few and see what fits you. I doubt...
