That is fab John, some cracking detail and I really like the lighting. Nice and different to see on a white background too :)

    Monument to Varyag.

A monument on the south west coast of Scotland to the Russian ship Varyag which ran aground near Lendalfoot. Was losing the light and the weather was closing in but I think it made for a really dramatic shot. (oh and it's as straight and level as I want it to be hehe)

    Yikes I've had a...

I'm happy that you got published and not meaning to put down your pics but how do you know someone actually 'rated' it and didn't just decide to use it because it was free and the ones he actually rated were from people who wouldn't give them for free?

    Changing lenses

As Ken said, important bit is keeping the camera face down, you are going to get wee bits of stuff flying about almost everywhere but keeping the open area facing the ground will minimise the chance of getting any kack inside.

My first weekend with the macro lens.

After getting my Sigma 105mm (yay Rich, yer a star) I got a chance to get out and about with it last weekend. My first impressions of trying macro stuff is that it is incredibly frustrating lol, but also a right good challenge and pretty damn satisfying when things (almost) work out. Here are a...

    Cuckoo Flowers One back lit

Prefer the first one Dave some nice detail and really delicate colours to it. Like the idea of the second one but think there is a wee bit of movement in the flower head. It's just not got the detail and feel of the first one for me.

    Robin. Sparrow added

Nicely framed by the foliage and pin sharp, like the reflection in his eye on the large pic on your Flickr. :)

    in camera editing

Sorry Hayley, that edit is not to my taste at all. I think your original shot could be improved if you moved round to the right a wee touch though and had the centre of the flower inbetween the gaps of the petals instead of it being partially obscured

    First of the season

That's just brill, and a very photogenic perch for the wee fella too. :) Great for the composition the way it arcs out from the corner.

    Cherry Plum Blossom 2

I really like that Dave, not a big fan of centrally composed stuff usually but that works a treat, the nice sharp flower in the centre grabs the attention and as the focus falls away all around it it draws you through the picture. :) Almost looks as though it's sitting in water with just the...
