    Nikon D800......

TBH, it will depend on what you shoot, and how you shoot. If you are shooting on a cloudy day outdoors in daytime, you will probably not see much improvement in IQ. But if you shoot in high contrast setting, you should see more of a clear difference in IQ. Dynamic range is wider by more than 2...

    Micro SD with adaptor?

Thanks Chris. I might have a go with one then.

    Micro SD with adaptor?

Silly question - I haven't used SD cards since 2002. Things have moved on a bit since then, and there are all these micro SD cards which seem to have the same spec as SDHC, yet appear cheaper. Are there any disadvantages with using microSD with an adaptor in DSLR? Are there any...

    The eyes (don't) have it!

Also, try repositioning your lights. I think I can see a catchlight in the corner of the right eye, and the shadow on the front of the face suggest you have both key and fill lights at quite acute angle (and possibly too high, judging from the shadows in the entire eye socket and lower half of...

Which eye do you look through the view finder with?

I right eye sucks, so I use left. Don't really have a problem with thumb, but my thumb is on the shoulder AF on button, so that never would be.

Sony NEX - LCD exposure/photo exposure

Hi Steve. Thanks for the reply. Yes, that's what i thought, and quite frankly, amazed by! I had a hotshoe adaptor, and used with a standard trigger. It worked fine. it was just the LCD that was causing an (quite a major!!!) issue. Are other Micro 4/3 and compacts like that? I haven't...

    Bluray discs

I don't know about your actual question, but I'd have thought getting external HDD would be a better backup solution in terms of cost effectiveness and the long term reliability than optical media?

Sony NEX - LCD exposure/photo exposure

I had a photographer come to my studio the other day with his Sony NEX camera, and we ran into a bit of a funny one. The camera doesn't have a viewfinder, and everything is shown on the LCD on the back. the problem is because LCD shows the same exposure as what the current setting has...

    Tower bridge sunset

Lovely colours and angle; you certainly captured it at the perfect timing. But as others have said, there is too much negative space. Crop tighter, and try 5 x 4 aspect ratio, perhaps? That would work well too.

    beginner need light help.

I agree with Hoppy. Flash will give you a much more versatility than continuous light for photography lighting. However, if you are set on buying continuous, Arri do some good video lights, which a lot of wedding photographers use. Their biggest (and dare I say, only) advantage being what you...

Advice on lighting setup - is this going to work?

Fair enough :) From your description, I would probably position the group close to wall, and use a white umbrella which would light both the group and the background sufficiently, and use other light as a fill - if you are after a nice deepish shadow, perhaps 2 stops down? Since you are only...

Adding to portable studio set up

More light will always give you more option later down the line, so if I was in your shoes, I'd defo go for more lights. Setting up paper roll might take a little more effort, but compare that to reduced editing time on each image!

Advice on lighting setup - is this going to work?

Whether something like this would "work" surely is down to your vision. Are you after hight or low contrast? If you want to lift the eye socket shadows, do you have a reflector, second light or even ambient light to do this for you? Not a dig, but a little surprised a working photographer...
