    Oil on the sea

Hi all, Was flicking through some shot from the Summer today and happened across one of oil on the sea. It was a throwaway snap that slipped through my deletions but I felt like messing around so I spent a while tinkering with it and ended up with something a little unreal that I quite like for...

Show us yer film shots then!

Some more from me! These are from sensia 200 film from the CCimaging offer a while back. Digital processing on them is minimal as my computer isn't working so I'm on a borrowed laptop (but then I'm sure most people here prefer minimal digital processing anyway :)) Weathered by...

Next step up from a 18-55mm

Actually, if you compare using the 40D which has a much more similar pixel density to the D3x the nikon is on, the comparison is very close, each a bit stronger at various focal lengths and weaker at others. I'm not sure why you're so insistent on bringing the conversation back to nikons...

Next step up from a 18-55mm

And my Canon 18-55IS is pretty sharp. Funny that isn't it? :)

Show us yer film shots then!

Just got the scans from my first (test) roll through my yashica-mat! Results are good, the scans aren't fantastic but they're fine for printing A4 or web size and it was the cheapest place I could find, but more importantly the camera seems to be working fine. Most of the images are a bit...

    RAW still worth it?

It's irrelevant anyway as raw is not an acronym, if anything it's more of a title as it's literally just raw data. so it's technically incorrect to capitalize the whole word ;) The acronyms like .JPEG are found in the actual format like .CR2 or .NEF . . . . . . Well it was aimed at pedants :D

My first go at HDR - Be Gentle!

This style of HDR doesn't often appeal to me to be honest, but I like the composition and details and in this instance the "grungy" HDR effect does bring out the drama in the sky very nicely to get a good bleak look. I agree it would be more suited to black and white, to my eyes the colours...

    What's your fabourite lens?

On digital my 100-400L and sigma 150mm macro have both been superb, but the lens I've enjoyed shooting with the most is the Pentax 50mm f/1.7 on a Pentax MX because of it's great compact size combination and smooth dampened MF.

I feel cheated! lol - Using colour film and converting

Im still new to film and have only got back a couple of rolls of superia so far (got a roll of neopan in the yashica-mat though). A lot of the images Ive posted from these rolls of superia are converted to black and white digitally, because I try it out on most images when processing and mostly...

Help-making an image sqaure without cropping

Still not sure why this can't be done with cropping. Why not just crop it off centre from his face, easy enough

    Telephoto Lens required, perhaps ~300-400mm?

I very much like my 100-400mm as I chose it over the 150-500 after comparing them myself, but since then the price of the sigma has dropped and the price of the canon has gone back up to a point where I would say the canon isn't worth the difference, even though I found it sharper.

    LR 4 or PSE 10

What kind of editing do you use the software for mostly? Lr4 has excellent organisational capabilities and a very nice UI for ACR with some very clever localized adjustment capabilities, where elements doesn't have anything like the cataloging and straight forward workflow abilities but will...

Cheapest place to buy an XBOX 360

I would echo the advice to definitely go for more than 4GB. Single games can take up more than that nowadays, Battlefield 3 with assorted DLC's is currently taking up a whopping 14GB of my 60GB HDD. Granted that is massively bigger than any of the other games, but it's a good example of why 4GB...
