I have been looking at the thread and there are some superb images to view. Is anyone experiencing a colour cast with either the Heliopan or Lee 10 stop filters?

Not sure about Heliopan, Lee big stopper has a very blue cast which is across entire picture. Which can be corrected easily on post.

Holy thread resurrection :)

Don't see many long exposures with people in so nice one Phil. Pity couldn't compose a little different to exclude the foliage on the LHS.

Cheers.

It's great to see this thread resurrected as there are some fantastic images irrespective of whether you like the style or not. It's a shame, when you look back through the pages that there are a number of images missing.

Anyway, as much as it is easy to remove the blue cast in PP, how do you actually do it as I've tried and I come up with some strange colours!

Much better to set a custom white balance on the camera, then you can forget about having to correct everything later.

Crikey they're cheap!
Good value, they are very good. Not quite as flare resistant as some of the top end ones, but the colour cast is better than most. It has a very slight warm cast, but nothing major.
Here's a quick comparison, must re-do this when we get some settled weather, though cant include the Haida, it went back to Amazon after this was taken.

They're crackers, Ross. Was the 10 stop the only filter used or did you use grads too?
I imagine I would have used grads too but can't remember the strengths I'm afraid.

A rare morning out in this dull and overcast winter and a chance to blow the cobwebs off the 10 stopper.

A comparison shot with my pocket camera to show actual conditions, have to do something during these long exposures ;)

@Steve B they are ok but have you tried contrasty BW conversions, i reckon that would take them up a notch or two :)
Not really my thing doing mono and I didn't really think these were worth spending any time processing, not even bothered opening the raw files yet :)
