Hi all,

I've been inspired by all you 52ers so thought I'd give it a go too. Never done anything like this before but I'm looking forward to the challenge and learning loads along the way. I found the first theme quite difficult and tried a few ideas which didn't turn out so good. Anyhow this is the shot I'm happiest with, hopefully it's not too obscure for the theme...I was thinking that shadows provide direction. Shot this in colour and b&w but there's something about b&w that's appealing so I'm going for the b&w version.

Well that's one down...only 51 to go!

I'm a sucker for B&W, a nice approach to the theme :)

Look forward to seeing what you bring us for the rest of the year...

Really like the light and how it comes across in the colour version. Great shot.

Great first shot, I prefer the colour version the green base has a nice smooth quality.

Good luck for the next 51

Although it didn't jump out at me I can see what you mean by linking the shadows with direction. My preference is #2. I think the tone of green is lovely.

Thanks very much for your supportive comments, I think I'm really going to enjoy this challenge. Looking forward to week 2.:)

Carol

As Peter says, that's a nice green.

B&W is a good conversion.

I'd like to see it from further back with loads of shadow and lower down the tree.

Cheers.

Welcome to the project :) A good start, with the colour version being my favourite. As others have already said, the green is lovely.

Good luck with your project!

Hi Carol well done,i like both your pictures,if i had to choose one it would be the 1st one in black and white,as i like the nice contrast you have managed to capture in your picture, and i also think its adds an atmosphere,

I will be another for the colour version Carol, as others have said I like the colour tones in the photograph.
Good start to your 52 Carol, 1down 51 to go :D

Hi Carol....

great start to your project....a bit of outside the box thinking but still right on theme....2# image for me...that green is great (y)

ps...Don't forget to update the spreadsheet...link in 1st post where the themes are listed....makes life so much easier for seeing who's done what...I've updated wk 1 for you (y)

So here's my take on this week's theme, this one has well and truly pushed me out of my comfort zone as I've never attempted a staged shot before.

Carol

Hi, there, fear, very well done. I suspect this won't be emulated. Nice composition and focus. Nice deep blacks and I like the border.

Cheers.

I think we've all been pushed out of our comfort zone this week, as someone said on another thread how do you shoot emotion, i think you've done a good job with this

Super take on this difficut theme. This works very well and well thought out.

Thank you for all your great support on this challenge, it's is just what I needed. My photography has been in a bit of a rut recently, never in a million years would I have thought about photographing an emotion. Yes it is good to be pushed out of your comfort zone once in a while ;)

Have especially enjoyed viewing the different interpretations of this theme.

Great to see so many joining in.

All the best

Carol

Brilliant ! - very simple concept but so very true, Rejection is something that I guess we all 'fear'. Emotive subject this week and quite dark. It's yielding some very interesting results so far.

I really like the way you have used selective Depth of Field. I don't normally like a frame surmounting an image (preferring a mount) but this does work very well.

So here's my take on this week's theme, this one has well and truly pushed me out of my comfort zone as I've never attempted a staged shot before.
I think this is a great interpretation of Fear. I hear you on being pushed outside of your comfort zone - I generally don't do staged shots either but didn't have much of a choice this week. Good luck with the rest of your 52!

Great image Carol...difficult theme but great interpretation & well done for stepping outside your comfort zone...tis hard to do but you've done it well

Like the simplicity , the DOF ,the layout , the frame...well...all of it really (y)

Having looked at your week 1 I didn’t think it was anything special to be honest but week 2 you have really stepped up to the mark,

To my eyes the main wording looks over exaggerated on sharpness, I know this is due to the shallow dof but as there is little contrast to the edges of the paper me eyes are drawn to it,
If that makes since

Direction, like it a lot, colour one for me, landscape type shots should be colour.

Fear, great take on the theme and nicely shot, dof is great just proves a good photo doesn't have to be complicated
