Digital Medium Format Thread

I think bargains in good condition are getting harder to find these days. So well done :D

Used to be you'd see batches of unsold boxed stock crop up from time to time. I've seen several batches of Canon FD's turn up for sale on several occasions but not for a few years now.

Looks nice, although when I read that I had imagined you'd uploaded something a little larger.

Simply double click on the image and it should open in Flickr where you can view it full size. It's 11000 px across. Is that not working?

I managed to do a very quick test with the 55mm the other evening. Sadly, little man had been unwell and the weather wasn't great all week so took what would could and made about a dozen exposures total.

There's a lot to like about the lens. Focal length, aperture, the look it gives on the larger sensor. The biggest take away for me was how much character it has for a modern lens whilst being really sharp (sharpness Isn't always my first consideration). Other manufacturers making fast 50mm (Sony, Canon) have that razor sharpness at the expense of character, IMO. This lens has some swirly bokeh!

From the rumour sites, looks like GFX50SII is being discountinued - obviously stocks about, but it could be heavily discounted come Black Friday - given that its the older sensor and that the GFX100S often discounted is only a small amount £££ more I'm not really surprised.
The GFX50SII seems to have been permanently discounted for best part of 2 years. I can only recall it going for RRP during its first few months following its release. Probably the end of the 50mp GFX era.

So just back from a week in Malta (didn't miss the UK weather one bit!), went lightweight 1 camera 1 lens - GFX50S + GF45mm (had the X100F in the bag as well until the last minute, then took it out!), so I spent a week using the GFX like I would the X100F, weight wise it was OK, but a bit bulky at times. Loved the fact that in portrait mode the field of view is a little wider (4:3 aspect ratio as opposed to 3:2). Nearly bought a Leica Q2 just before I went, but then I thought sod it just take the GFX.

So over the next few days expect plenty of images!!

To start with a nod to @LeeRatters

Lovely. I would love to visit Malta for the car scene - I see plenty of beauties on the Facebook pages :)

Camera gear set up sounds lovely too!

Lee, saw a few older cars out and about (there was quite a few 1980/90s cars in daily use), standard of driving was positively dreadful, you certainly needed your wits about you :D And it was exceptionally dusty, must be difficult keeping anything clean, and they have a water shortage at the moment!

@Mr Perceptive

David. Using a rig like that for walkabout would be considered brave, even foolhardy. But you’ve pulled it off. Terrific set, testimony to positivity a la GFX. Can’t wait to see more.
Shame I’m potless…

Thanks, just plain stupid, I reckon :ROFLMAO:, what it lacked in discreteness, it made up for in IQ and Dynamic Range :)
