I wSnt sure what to do really with me being new and this ever being my first ever real challenging photo but with a few fizzy tabs a sofa as my only dark background and a iPhone for a bit of light I managed to get what I felt a ok result. Using the 18-55 mm lens was difficult, trying to get the focus correct was very hard I found.

I started to try to take this with just the glass, then in the end added the two tabs which really helped with the photo and getting the glass to look right in the shot.

If I had a deep black sheet and a remote flash i feel I could improve on it.

Please tell me what you think ...... ImageUploadedByTalk Photography Forums1436476011.462571.jpg

Wow! - I think that is a great idea for a shot and you've made a really good image from your idea. Thanks for sharing the story of how you got to the final image.

The top tablet on the table looks a little bright, but that is me being hyper critical. I love the movement inside the glass. Bravo!

You might get more visitors to your thread if you add a link to it in your post on the images only thread. (see post number 1 on the images only thread for instructions)

Am using TP as app on iPad. The instructions don't match up with what I see. Managed to get web link in, but it reads who,e address, not the cool looking word saying link thingy.

That top tab is bright now you say, also looking closer I would of liked them in better focus. Would need to move them forward to bring them into focus.

And that water droplet on the bottom of the glass I have just noticed.

Great idea for the theme Samuel, particularly like hoiw you have caught the chemical reaction in the water. Excellent start.

I'd agree with Brian and Carl, good first submission.

For me it's the bubbles in the glass that make the photograph. Nice clean background.

If you struggle with focus, try manual focus. If you have live view zoom in for better manual focus.

Cheers.

Hi Samuel ... I agree: excellent idea, love the movement in the glass ...

A couple of alternative set-ups I might consider: don't know how tall the glass is but to see the top might be nice, also positioning the two tabs in the FG (foreground) might add interest.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST.......

Really struggled with this one. was thinking what the hell can I photograph.

Had these old herb tubes laying around so I decided to do something with them.
The one at the back is meant to be last but not the least full.

Tried HDR on this photo but in all i feel it's a bit of a lame attempt.

Hi Samuel. Not immediately obvious for the theme but those tubes look interesting - a lot of potential for photography.

Nice submission Sam ... I'm in agreement with Carl, except when taking piccies I tend to avoid anything glass. You've done well here.

Would of been better with the tubes placed left to right. But I was pleased with the photo in itself I guess. This is my second photo I have ever submitted online ever with only a few months experience the comments are encouraging. Thank you for these

You've done quite well here. Glass can be difficult to photograph. There are some issues with the HDR and I'd also prefer them in least to most filled order.

Keep at it (y)

Cheers.

Hi, not too obvious to the proverb but its your interpretation that matters, not keen on the HDR or the composition, but at least you are thinking about it

Keep going its worth it

Hey Peeps

So for this week I remember a photo i took last week of some pigeons flying off, hope i'm not cheating. Well.....they were happily sitting there and i scared them off for the purpose of trying to
photo something moving. So I have used this as my pale subject. The photo was alot bigger to start with and in colour too. I have cropped it down (alot) made it B&W
and played around with the values a bit `since i had a RAW file for this to try to get rid of some of the background. The highlight of the photo is the white pigeon (PALE)
compared to the rest of the pigeons. I was going to try something white on white but others have done it already, Felt B&W was a interesting way to go.

Not totally convinced it's a good photo but this my second photo I have ever edited and i don't have the resources to get that white on white like the others did.

Looks pretty good to me Samuel. Lots of movement, frozen and blurred. I suppose if anything slightly on the dark side as some of the birds are lost in the background but the primary subject is nicely defined.

Wanted to define that white bird, I have gone a little over the top with the blacks adjustment. ;)

Hi Sam

I like the image of the glass tubes, a well handled shot, the blue background and the reflections are really effective :)

Pale - Well, not cheating technically, you can do your 52 how ever you want, we class it as an archive picture, as the 'challenge' of the 52 is to take a new photo for each theme after they are announced, BUT obviously we can give our self 'Jokers' where we take a photo that is nothing to do with the theme but a new photo.... or use archive shots which are on theme but taken prior to the theme announced...

Hoping that hasn't confused you too much :D

Woah that's a busy shot, and I think that's partly what I like about it! My eye is drawn to the central dark bird rather then the lighter (pale) one, but that's subjective so don't mind me, great movement!

Was trying to implement the rule of thirds, I will try to crop it with the white bird in the centre, may look more pleasing.

Hi Sam

A powerful shot ... but your conversion to B&W, plus your need to concentrate on the "Pale" pigeon results in the unclear and the confusing ... not necessarily a bad thing. :cautious:

I'm not going to explain this one, I'm interested in how you think this was accomplished,
It's not photoshopped either. This is straight from the camera.

A well composed and :clap:taken image Sam - I'd be proud of that one - makes a nice abstract. Taken through a folded piece of paper perhaps ?!?

The hardest part was having no laptop, so had to be straight from the camera with no editing. This Mede it even more of a challenge for me. This has taught me a few things composing this. :)

I siliconed the led,s to a board then filled the middle with water. It didn't reflect like I wanted it to so added some milk. Then I started to get the blue halo. It doesn't look the same here as it rid on the camera lcd but I was pleased all the same.

I'm all about "out the box" thinking, the tear subject has really inspired me to want to try out long exposures, looking forward to the winters dark evenings to give me opportunity to do this. I have so much I want to try.

London eye
The cable car over the Thames
The classic car headlights on motorway intersections
Traffic lights
