Yes we really felt the change in light and temperature!Didn’t manage to capture it, but it was a somewhat surreal experience. Definitely felt the change in the light level.

I like the aerials - they add something to it.Taken in Kidderminster. A lot of cloud cover so no sighting of a full eclipse but I managed to get at least a couple this one being the best.

Last time in 1999 I was using my OM1n and a welding mask. Thought I ought to make an effort as I would be 147 when this happens next so unlikely to make it, got some decent shots much like those above, lots of neighbours came out to have a look through my viewfinder, never been so popular![]()



Some great results here, wish we had some cloud cover really adds to the shots.
Well the large format lens worked to project the eclipse just fine although it was a bit bright on the card.
I also used an old crop DSLR with a 500mm mirror lens with a ND1000+2x ND8+ ND128 and a UV filter stacked and used live view to snap some shots.

Thanks Jeremy, hardest part was finding it in the live view. I tried using a tripod at first but couldn't seem to zero in on the thing, the ball head drooping and reflections on the screen made it tough. Handheld was much easier in the end.That is spectacular. I watched all the youtube videos but I'm just not technically - minded enough to set something like that up. Anyone thinking of going to southern Spain in August next year???

We'd travelled down to Santander in Spain to be in the path of totality. Unfortunately after a few hours wait at the top of a hill with excellent views in the right direction , it started clouding up about an hour before the start of the eclipse. By the time things started it was too cloudy to even work out where the sun was!
Light levels did drop very significantly during totality as seen in this view of the valley below us with lights coming on all over (about 1 hour before sun set)

these are amazing, big shout out to Angel Fux. I could see why you may have wanted to be in Spain or Iceland, and the article claims there is another one next year in Spain again. I have no idea what kind of monster lens or telescope he used - seems a far cry from basic 400mm. The totality does open up a lot of options that even the 93% crescent didn't offer.

1/1000 - must have been a bit brighter than up here. Even at ISO 1600 I didn't get much above 1/13 - which reduced sharpness somewhat. Or my solar film was much thicker!Here's a couple of my efforts:

Taken with a Fuji X-T4 and XF 100-400mm lens, and Sonner Solar film filter. ISO 160, F/8, shutter speed was 1/1000 or 1/800.
The thinnest crescent was actually perfectly visible here as the sun managed to find quite a thick cloud at that moment. I did chance it with 400mm, and it pretty much just looks like a crescent moon in the middle of the night; no point in posting.I didn't take any photos, but used a rich tea biscuit as a pin hole camera (you have to hold the biscuit quite close to the paper to see, but it worked). I then ate it.

skullfunkerry #101 Can you tell me what shutter, aperture and ASA you used on the first picture and if you used any filters. Just asking as I did not get a red sun which might have something to do with my ND variable filter. Unless you used photoshop to colour it in. You even captured sun spots.

Liking your arrangement, I missed the earlier part getting to my chosen spot a bit late. On the map it looked like less of a trek than it was...
Did you up the vibrance a bit, that's an amazing orange, I shot RAW but forgot to take it off AWB so in camera all the shots looked monochrome, ended up changing it to 'sunny' when I edited them later which gave the colour back.
