I'd just like to say.....

Thank you, everyone.

Since joining this forum just a few weeks ago, my enthusiasm for photography has gone through the roof! I may not be great, but the pictures and techniques have been inspirational. But, even more, the people have been inspirational. There simply aren't enough hours in the day to try everything I've seen here :)

I hope it doesn't come across too 'gushy', but I just wanted to express my thanks to the admin and members. It's been a thoroughly fun few weeks and looking forward to many years to come.

The only problem is that I've had to go out and spend more money on better kit..... it's all your fault

Enough of this emotional crap and tell me about your land rover lol

The best thing about this site is it's heavily British based, which scores massively over other sites for me. It's also mostly friendly and the mods work really hard in the background to keep it that way.

The content/images on here are inspiring and the help from other members is exceptional. Every day I learn something new.

Thanks TP

Mine was an 87 td but the v5 does say 3.9 v8

I am in the process of building a 3.5 V8. It's been rebored to +020, has a 3.9 cam, modified heads, tubular manifolds, etc. I'm sticking with a pair of SU's for simplicity. Should get around 200bhp.

3.9 can is basically 3.5 timed wih a couple of degrees of advance won't really offer anything worth while.

What heads are you going for. I'd stick to a set of stage one heads or Peter burgess econotunes.

same here, I've learned loads, my only gripe is that I don't seem to get much response when I request help/critique. I think partly due to the huge number of posts that flow through the site.

Matt, however, has been brilliant with his help over car lights etc :p

I'm liking this place a lot. For two reasons.

1. Up front honesty with no pretending something's ok when it's not.

2. There are some fantastic photographers on here with a real talent that inspires you to take better photographs.

Missed this - get a TVR V8 version for 300+ bhp

I enjoy the way everyone always helps everyone else, no-one goes in for childish bickering, there is no problem with people who allow their shots to be used in the press without charge, the wedding togs (all of whom are happy to be referred to as `togs`) never complain about part-time wedding togs or relations of the bride who do the job for a tenner, Canon users get on well with Nikon fans and both support those who choose Pentax, and we all agree that PCSOs and security guards have a difficult job to do and it's understandable if they sometimes get a touch over enthusiastic about their work.

And everyone agrees that using a UV filter is the best way to protect your lenses.

A merry Christmas to you all!

Lol, lol, lol ;)

 Thank you Steve and welcome aboard to you and all our newest members. I looked at a lot of photography forums before deciding that TP was going to be "home" for me and I still think that it's the best there is. I hope you all get as much from the place as I have.

Jon, I think those should be flying pigs instead of Spaniels pulling your sleigh ;)
Merry Christmas though - and I think you'll agree that even with the occasional bickering this is still a great place to be.

TVRs generally never made 300hp with the rover V8

4.0's generally made 240-250, the 4.3's made 280-300 and the 5.0's made around 340bhp, and still do on the rolling road days I've been on.

The Bowler Wildcat that Hammond drove on top gear had a TVR 5.0 engine in it. 300bhp but lots of torque apparently.
Interestingly, there's a company in Weston Super Mare who have the rights to the engine and bits.
Or you could go to TVR power, who were the original TVR engine dept, now a separate company.

No idea how your standard drive chain would stand upto it though, but I do know of people who have done it - hence why I thought I'd mention it.

It's a common complaint? if thats the right word and really seems to be just because it's a really popular site. On the popular photo critique areas, most threads are lucky to stay on the front page for a day. I think putting a decent subject title in helps. If you use something that grabs the attention, or a specific request, then usually it attracts more views/answers

The 3.9 cam will give only about 5bhp or so, but the different timing can give good torque results.

Peter Burgess heads....bought used, but less than 5000 miles on a Westfield sEight.

I love how a thread about enjoying photography has turned into a Land Rover V8 discussion

if you say so :cuckoo:

Eh? The Griffith 500 has more than 300 bhp. As Byker stated, 340 bhp to be precise. The rest of his stats are bang in too.

No TVR quoted those figures what cars actually achieve is not the same thing ;)
