    I used to like Jessops

I've always found Jessops staff to be pretty helpful, and most of them are clued up. You can tell if they widen their eyes and smile or make a comment when you ask for something nice! A few years ago I did ask a girl there if they had a grip for a 400D, she replied "is that Canon or Nikon?". So...

    web sites

I'm building my new site through Showit, I'm paying for it but you can get a five page site for free. It's drag and drop So unbelievably easy to build but it's flash. Wordpress is probably your best bet.

Erm.. another robin, in the snow :)

Thanks guys, he was really hassling me as I was trying to get some landscape shots. Think he thought he could bully me into feeding him but I was empty handed :(

Nice shots! I really like your posing, you can see she's very young, I haven't had one that bendy yet :) I agree with cambsno about the backgrounds in 2 and 3 though, they do look a bit artificial. Using a fast lens should give you enough blur naturally. Cute set

Erm.. another robin, in the snow :)

I know! My main priority at the minute is paying the rent, but a long lens isn't too far down the list :)

Erm.. another robin, in the snow :)

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I posted in the Birds section, since I started shooting humans for a living and swapped all my kit I've gone from crop+200mm to full frame+135mm as my longest combo! Not good for birds! Robins are still kind enough to come close though, especially when...

I haven't used it yet, but I'll definitely check it out, thanks. Do you get much business through it?

Newborn shoot - 10 days old

The cynic in me says whatever age the client's baby is! But realistically, yes, around the 1 month mark is a nightmare. I've had a couple that age and colic and baby acne are a real problem. Also they're too old to sleep but too young to hold their head up, not great for posing. The...

Newborn shoot - 10 days old

Hi James, these were all taken on a 5D Mk2. Head shots and close-ups with 100L macro, full body shots with 85mm f1.8 and shots from above with 24-70L at 50mm. Apertures generally 1.8-3.2, 5-5.6 for macro shots. ISO 1250 because it wasn't the brightest of days! (Plus a beanbag and several...

    Layla at 2 weeks old

I really like them. Maybe a bit dark but I'm viewing on iPad so don't take my word for it. Number 2 is my favourite too, lovely pose and a nice conversion. Also really like 4. In 3 is it just me or are the eyes a little bit soft? Looks like the focus might be on the nose? Nice set though...

Ha! Way to introduce yourself to the forum!

So much hatred for new wedding photographers??

As a "newbie" wedding photographer (first one in 2 weeks time) I have to say I've had nothing but support from other photographers (on other forums and in real life, I'm not sure I've started a thread about it here). Probably because they see I know my camera inside out, have the necessary gear...

Newborn shoot - 10 days old

Yep, thumbs up for IKEA, BHS also good  Oh no, I've had some grumpy babies! I find once they get past 2 weeks the risk of colic and other ailments goes up so much, I always try to get them in the first 10 days. Even if it takes three hours, they can usually be pacified :) Thanks...
