    Formula E Battersea Park 28/06/15

I really enjoyed it, there were some big gaps, an inevitable side effect of there only being a single series racing, but they had lots of entertainment on in the fan village, including big free autograph session. We decided to stay to bag good grandstand spots. I don't think there was a pit...

    F1 Silverstone

I went to the Friday, in the rain in 2012 and 2013. Most of the grandstands are usually open for roaming all day so plenty of chance to get good shots. During the F1 sessions expect them to be full, but quickly empty during the support race sessions. If you can get into it - the far right hand...

Late Isle of Man TT photos

Nice variation of shots and locations - 4 & 5 best for me.

Anyone going to Formula E London?

I was there Sunday, I guess sound_system didn't find the pit-lane in-road which was free of fencing and you could stand right next to: From the stands there were some decent shots available, with a steady hand: The podium was excellent, set-up in the main fan-zone so everyone could see it...

    Formula E Battersea Park 28/06/15

The first of many, or a memorable one-off, either way I couldn't miss this one - electric open-wheel racing inside Battersea Park. Obviously always going to be a big challenge shooting through the fences, didn't take a shot from the grandstand all day at more than 1/400, but got a few decent...

First attempts at motorsport- constructive criticism welcome

Composition is very good. For speed, just try lowering the shutter speed a few clicks at a time. Expect a lot of blurred shots, but worth it for the good ones. Get below 1/100 and you enter the world of the enthusiastic amateur!

Anyone going to Formula E London?

Looks like a real photographic challenge this one - probably high fencing throughout. Last few tickets available for Sunday. I look forward to seeing photos.

    Thruxton Truck Racing

Yes, for safety you will probably not be allowed to stand on any level places with only small tyre walls - if you see one of the trucks come off an not even slow down through gravel and tyre walls you will know why! View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVut8Jp6g_g However, I recall most of...

    Photography tips for Rockingham

A bit late - but I enjoy Rockingham, provides some great and very different shots. You will need either a loooong lens or willingness to crop heavily (my budget limited option!). Top of the garages is great, can get really good looking speed shots. The long views to the infield provide some...

    A few Oulton BTCC pics

Thanks. We got there at 7.45 not long after the gates opened and it was already filling up even though racing did not start until 12. If you want a good "front row" seat, you need to be there early!

    A few Oulton BTCC pics

Hi all, I feel rather unambitious seeing the other stunning BTCC galleries. I parked up on the run down from Hilltop and stayed there all day, aside from a walk into the paddock. Any comments on these are well appreciated:

The Lone Star Le Mans FIAWEC/USCC event at COTA

Thanks, never really done those before, had to improvise on the spot. Not used full manual on my D600 before.

    Rockingham

I was pretty happy with the view from the T1 grandstand, only opened on the BTCC weekend, although I didn't attend this year (Santa Pod Euro Finals were on). Gives you a chance for some great action shots of the pack racing on the in-field...

The Lone Star Le Mans FIAWEC/USCC event at COTA

Just gotten back from a US trip of endurance and drag racing. Sorted out a small handful of shots from the Lone Star Le Mans weekend. COTA is, like most new circuits, horrible for photography outside of a few grandstands. The entirely of the circuit is lined with high fencing, with another...

Appleby Horse Fair - anyone been?

Thanks for the replies. I couldn't remember my password to log on from my phone, but they were useful. The weather just about held on Sunday, hope any else there had a good time. I took the 70-300 (on an FX) in the end and it was useful to getting close-ups of the riders in the river, although...
