Our new alien overlords are installing the mind probe software.
I don't really need one, as I got the chip in my Bill Gates vaccine

Marcel was having a tweak, more over a bit of a clear out.Something happening?
No good for those of us who don't use farceberk...
It was a lot of money for very light useImmediately : The TP app will be withdrawn from the App Store(s) this week, and will cease to function by 30/04.

Although no longer a serial poster i do pop on every so often so sad to here the news recently .All good things must to come to a end and i must say the forum as been a big positive in my photography over the years i have been a member .I have met many like mined people on here with quite a few i now consider as good friends...
Big thanks to the owners and mods who have especially had to deal with many issues i have been involved him over my time on here..
Its not going anywhere DenAll good things must to come to a end
**UPDATE**
I'd like to announce that discussions have been successful and TP will be continuing as is, with someone new at the helm.
More details soon, but I want to reassure you all that TP is not going anywhere and will stay as it is...infact you might not even notice the switch
We managed without the app in the past and can manage without it in the future. People tend to go for the easy, automated options, but in doing so can't avoid giving a level of control, access and power to Companies that cannot be trusted. Facebook, Amazon, Royal Mail and Deliveroo may be other examples of what can happen when people are too trusting.Yeah sorry about having to kill the app. I know it's a painful bandaid to pull off.
I should have done it a long time ago tbh. I'm sure anyone who misses it will understand why it has to go.
Besides, with my feelings towards how Tapatalk operate (suddenly changing our app that we pay for, to push ads, then refusing to disable them) makes me very uncomfortable about their plugin having access to our database

Yep, I did EXACTLY the same, tapping options before spotting the bit I wanted. Of course it then put it on a different desktop so I didn't think it'd worked.A very obvious and elegant solution, that hadn't crossed my mind :banghead:
Now sorted, thankyou

Well you know where the classified sections are I'm sure it won't be long before you are up and running againso trying to reconnect with these forums, and see if I can reignite the passion for photography I once had.
So sorry to hear of your loss. I think photography can be different things to different people, but it is definitely something that can get you out and about and away from everyday issues. Hoping it can help you find some solace. When I read the first post it was very sad that the forum might close down.
I joined this forum 14 years ago, and learned so much, and built up some great photography kit, mostly purchased from the fantastic people on these forums.
I'd stepped away for photography for a good few years due to life, family etc, and sadly my partner lost her battle with cancer 11 months ago aged 35, and my step daughter went to live with her grandmother, so I find myself on my own again, with nothing but time.
Sold all my photography kit last year which I deeply regret, so trying to reconnect with these forums, and see if I can reignite the passion for photography I once had.
Was good to read the forum is staying open and thanks again to owner, mods etc for all their great work.
Have they done it yet? If so, can you ask them what film I put in my Yashica TLR the other month, please, as I can't bloody remember? Our new alien overlords are installing the mind probe software.

Are the 'Big Changes' now being downgraded to 'Possibly a few minor tweaks that you'll barely notice'
What does this mean for the forum?
Well. I have a timeline in mind with certain actions I don't need to bore you all with, but the key details are :
Immediately : The TP app will be withdrawn from the App Store(s) this week, and will cease to function by 30/04.
Immediately : No new advertising requests, current advertisers may continue.
Immediately : Remove Facebook / Social Media Integration with the forums
By 30/04 : Old content will be deleted. (The criteria is yet unknown, but it will be the really old and useless stuff filling up the forums)
By 30/04 : Old member records to be deleted. (Again, unsure on exact criteria)
By 30/04 : All remaining members to be contacted via email and informed of what's going to happen.
The longer term timeline will depend on a discussion I'm having with the moderation team in private. Then, one of two things will happen :
First Option
The forums will be handed over to the new owner.
If this is successful, the forums will certainly be going back to its roots as a hobbyist community, as we used to be. I will stay as just a member, or mod/admin with a purely informal technical advisory role.
Second Option
I announce that the discussions fell short and I will set a close date for the forums
The forums will close and all data deleted.
Please note I will give at least 3 months notice for this option.
If you have any queries please add them in here, and I'll answer as best I can. Common questions will get added to this post as an edit.
If you are worried about your personal data, I can assure you it is safe and will not be sold. This has been my underwritten promise since day one.
As a further note, I will make a proper post at a later date but I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every single member, past and present, of Talk Photography. Banned or not.
You are what has made this community what it is. You are the heart of Talk Photography.
You have all shown TP some absolutely fantastic support over the years, and even myself personally.
I have made loads of friends on here and experienced many, many happy memories. The love, support, and encouragement you all showed me during my personal '365' all those years ago was overwhelming and I'll never forget it.
I'd best stop now or I'm gonna cry!!
