2014 Photo52 Challenge : Week 52 : Support

So, to extend the 'attached to my credit card' posts.......I am currently....drunk.....on my iPad...and I have a Nikon D750 and a 24-120..in...my....basket.......

Never has the 'add to basket' option been sssoooo tempting :)

Cheers.

So round about now should be waking up with a sore head, making some coffee, checking in here.......

And then frantically going off to check emails in a "did I, didn't I" anxious moment.... :)

Just read in another thread, he bottled it Graham, :chicken: @posiview :p

Edit- Beat mi too it Andy :D

Not the camera that takes the pictures.... ;)

Now's the time to start dropping hints though. See what Santa brings to the good boys and girls.

Oi, @blakester get your own typo ;)

Still here, @Brian_of_Bozeat and looking forward to seeing you and Iain in it again for TP2015 (y)

It's been a while since I visited the ETC thread.

Chests

:)

:D I must admit @posiview, I do lurk in here a little, force of habit you understand but I am not convinced about the 52 next year for me. Here's a challenge for you, if I were new to this, how would you 'sell' it to me?

Well, without wanting to gush, selling points are having met through the TP52: @blakester @blondie606 @Dark Knight @Robbi @Southdowns and many more.

Moreover, I would not have produced this if I have not being doing the TP52 :)

Thanks Andy... Just what I didn't need to see just before going to sleep. :p

You are right about the taking of pictures you wouldn't otherwise have taken, and for those early in their photography journey (like me last year) the practise and sustained feedback from others who get to know you and your work is invaluable.

Yes you can post as many photos in the main forum as you like... But the 52 is different. :)

:agree:
Occasionally I have posted on other threads but had b.....r all feedback.
On the 52 there is a range of views and a range of advice.
Sometimes it is given in depth, sometimes not; sometimes in depth on some shots and sometimes less so on others. And always delivered in a friendly, helpful, humourous and supportive way.

Phew that was close! I nearly said I was going to re-join then, thanks Andy, a timely reminder of what the '52 can do to you psychologically... :runaway:

I was just too busy for photography this year, I bit off more than I could chew and I had to prioritise. I AM considering the '52 for 2015 as I actually miss you lot (awww group hug ) but I would need to decide on my own rules for it... most likely I will be only follow the theme when it suits me to do so, or perhaps I will only submit on even numbered weeks or something similar to take the urgency out of it. Loads of time yet to mull it over...

Any suggestions?

Would be great to see you back in Brian

I think the 52, even though your own would need 52 entries... or it would be a 26 :D

How about doing 26 alternate weeks as you say, but then do an Edited version the following week that takes into account the previous comments ??

Dean, you're right about needing 52 entries, I was thinking of doing 2 a fortnight rather than 1 a week IYSWIM... (I know you, you were just worried about not being able to tick the spreadsheet each week!)

Good thinking on the edited response thing, that's worth thinking about.

Chests!

Is it still a 52 if some weeks are missed due to lack of inspiration? I did find that last years was a bit of pressure and entered more than a couple of iffy pictures just to submit something, however as time went on I thought my photography was not fulfilling my own criteria for the Challenge and dropped out relatively early. I would like to try again in 2015, if that's alright?

Suggestions, yeah, Man Up and get back into it :)

To quote an oft said, err, quote, it's your 52, do it how you want (y)

How about 52 Brian_of_Bozeat selfies :)

I've submitted some right tosh :) It's your 52, do as you feel (y)

Join in again next year, I will be :)

Cheers.

Brian.., first things first.... Do you remember where your camera actually is?? ;)

I would say that to do "the TP 52" is to do the themes in the order in a reasonable timeframe, it's the "seeing through the nasty ones together" that builds the camaraderie.

You can still do "your own 52" and still be welcomed in here though. Although I think it would work better if the majority follow the weekly themes, but there's also a place for a couple of mavericks to be doing their own thing.

Sounds like following the themes but giving yourself a generous supply of jokers would work for you. (y)

I agree with Graham, that's why I dropped out this year because I felt I wasn't really doing it justice.
As Andy mentioned above, that often used phrase 'it's your 52' certainly holds true but the ethos, I feel of the 52 is that you meet the weekly themes. That is essentially the challenge.

Yes we can all get behind at times, life gets in the way but IMHO and this may be a little contentious is that if a person were to get weeks behind then they are not really meeting the challenge. A few weeks catch up, yes fair enough but some were into months? Yes, I know it's "your 52" but?

The drawback of falling so far behind is that it has a knock on effect with commenting and critique. Lack of comments etc has been mentioned more than once this year. If someone is constantly playing catch up enivitably the comment side of things slips. I always looked on the 52 as a little community but it isn't everyone who are pulling their weight in that respect.

I did say it was a little contentious but please this is all IMHO, feel free to disagree/ignore :D

Falling behind is a really annoying thing to deal with, so many times this year of mine have been catch ups, the hardest year out, but I have been plagued with god knows what delaying me and taking my mind off things. I keep feeling like dropping out, but I am so close to the end. I can't see the situation getting any better. As for next year, if I do decide then I will make it clear from the start that I will be doing it and not expecting comments and critique on mine as I doubt I will have the time to devote to giving my opinions. If people comment then that's a bonus really.

Hi everyone... I've had a week from hell work-wise, so I haven't had a chance to get the camera out or post anything on anyone's threads.

That's just the way it is sometimes: paying the bills has to take precedence occasionally!

I am going to try to get something shot for Attached and if I do, I'll post it. I'm then out of action for most of this weekend... and back to the grind next week. So apologies in arrears and in advance for the lengthy lack of comment from me, folks.

I will catch up with your threads soon though :)

... falling behind with my comments ... again. Tut.

Hope you're feeling better soon Susie.

Nice to see old faces ... Brian, Martin, Iain et al (y)

I'm quite looking forward to 2015 as I will no longer be the new boy ... I'll be behaving like I own the place. :bat:
