    Hilite lastolite portabilty Q

I have the 6x7ft version. excellent piece of kit, and with the bottletops (or homemade versions made by better half) extremely versatile. Setting up dead easy. Putting away took me about 30 mins the first time, and i didn;t do it properly which resulted in me twisting the metal tape inside...

    Do i need a flash/light meter?

you only needed one in the old days of film because you had no feedback from the camera what the lights looked like. now you can use the camera meter, chimp adjust and repeat. some will argue for, and some against using a meter in digital..listen to both sides and decide.

    Light meter

for digital photography, not essential at all. many people shoot, chimp and adjust. some people will reply and say yes, it is essential..but it isn't. it's up to you whether you can do as above by using your camera light meter or an external piece of equipment to do the same thing. The so...

    Interfit Stobies i sync 4

They look kinda cool. Not sure what they give over their other wireless triggers, apart from being a little smaller compared to the radio ones i use. They need to proof read a bit more though...not sure what an integrated hotshot is :p

    white on white...

if you get a good white background, plenty of light and expose the subject properly, no reason why not. the more detail the dress has, the more perceived separation you would have

    High Key help please.....

Hi. you're going to be looking at probably using 2 lights on a white BG, and expose it somewhere between 1/2 to 1 stop above subject exposure - that should get you close at least - obv depending on how the modifiers deal with the light coming from the heads this thread should help

    Studio Lighting Help

if i'm correct, i'm sure Garry is paid by Lencarta for tech support - and is not on commision for sales, so him recommending something he knows about doesn't particularly benefit him in this case surely? I'm sure if he replied to every post about which lights to buy with a direct link and 'say...

    First go in a studio

It's reasonable to expect to come up with fairly decent results after some reading and a little practice. The stunning 'pro' results come with good knowledge and experience, so it depends on which end result you're going to be happy with and how much time you have to put into it before the shoot.

    Studio Lighting Help

true mate, a lot do criticise what they haven't used, goes for most products. I got the 3 head kit from stable imaging, which is very similar to most the 3 head kits on ebay. it is cheap and cheerful, but provides excellent images if you know accept the limits. an upgrade is on the cards if...

    Lighting setup for portrait?

not sounding like a dick is also an art and a skill. how can you overlight a portrait with something that doesn't have enough power? slight contradiction there. 'flood and spill everywhere...' with a low powered unit only good for localised bangs of light??...hmmmmm..... now take your...
