Neither of these last two look right to me, it's as if the boat is going up or down hill! Given that I was on the opposite side of the canal and at an angle to the boat how should I straighten the image?

Any advice would be welcome.

Hi Howard, sometimes small optical triggers can produce 'illusions' of tilt in your perception of a photo and this may be so in these. The red boat is easiest, look at the angle of the house in the background and adjust in your crop/rotation tool until it is more vertical, The blue one is not far off and you can do an eyeball rotation using the light coloured tree trunk in the centre to improve the very slight slope.
