Nick, great shot. That's Mow Cop isn't it? I really like how the exposure is just enough to show the dimly lit building, but still enough for the star trails... oh d'oh, it's stacked, isn't it? Never mind, that's the effect on me. Very nice; the building and foreground cliff are well psoitioned, too.
 
Well this type of shot impresses me because I've not managed to pull one of successfully for myself yet!

No real crit because I don't know what I'm talking about...I'll leave that to the guys who specialise in this type of thing
 
Awesome shot, I find my eye wanting to see a little more of the foreground detail, although any lighter and it may look odd. Great work anyway :)

Space....it's a belter...well worthy of printing & framimg..supr sharp trails wiht a hint of light on the ruin...lovely lovely lovely :clap:
 
Nice idea, but for me it would be better if not all blurred out, and had a flat background.

Hi, yeah, works well. For me, though, if it had been in focus it wouldn't have worked. The shallow DOF focuses my eye on the first few numbers and that's all I need in focus. I still know what it is.

Crit, well not keen on the dark section at the bottom because I can't see the very end of it. Also the I'd rather the shadows on the BG weren't there.

I like the clarity of the starts on your star trail image. Works well and on theme.

You work image is another good one for me. I like the shallow DOF, i think it would be better to have the end of the TM in focus though.
 
I think I would have preferred the focus to be bang on the end (or maybe the body of the tape measure), but it still works. :)
 
Hmmm, not sure about the Work pic; not enough in focus to make it an interesting picture, and perhaps a little tangential to the theme? But who am I to say, haven't even got mine in yet!
 
thanks for the crit guys as most of you will have noticed by now i love creative photography, if theres nothing a little untoward about a photo im not to keen on it , ie , light painting, light trails , dof things like that just really interest me and i have to incorporate it in there some where lol

Like the simple thinking for Work...shallow DOF i really like , good color in the measure so thats all (y)

The neg's for me , the shadow at the leading edge of the shot , can't help wondering of croping to the very end of the tape would help & the creases in the material . Not worried about the shadows as they are real & my eye is pulled to the number son the measure anyway :)
