HDEW CAMERAS anyone used them?

I've bought a Nikon D7100 body and a Tamron 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD from HDEW more than a week ago and nothing ever since! Called the HDEW several times. Here is my mail that I've sent for HDEW! I just wanted to share my experience with HDEW here is my last mail that I've sent for them:
Hi,
My order hasn't arrived yet! My order number is: ....
Despite I've called in 4 times and I wrote an email as well my stuff still nowhere!
I've called in first on Saturday and the gentleman from costumer service said that he can't give me any information about my order despite the delivery date is passed already on Saturday. He said that to call in on Monday around noon. I've done it as it was told for me. I spoked a lady from costumer service who said that she hasn't got information about my order as she waiting for update and as soon as she got it she was gonna write an email about it. Phoned the company again as no email for four hours after our conversation about the problem. She told me my Nikon D7100 gonna delivered today and she still hasn't got information about the lens that I ordered and she told me she gonna let me know about the lens via email! No email, no camera.
Please let me know what's happening ASAP!
Thank you,
Marton
Please just understand my frustration as I've paid a lot of money and I haven't got any information about my stuff!
Try not to worry Marton, they really are very good and your new camera and Lens will arrive :)

Feeling sufficiently reassured by the reports on this thread I have just ordered a Canon lens from HDEW. I have already received an email confirming the details.

They are fine.

Just an update on my order from HDEW.
I've got my D7100 but lens no where and no information about it. I've ordered 2 weeks ago. So today morning I asked HDEW to cancel my order on the lens and get a refund on it.

In another thread you expressed the same dissatisfaction with Panamoz and now Hdew did that get resolved?

I've bought in the last two years two cameras from DigitalRev and saved a total of 25% on lowest UK price and they were excellent and would buy again.

More recently my son and myself have each bought cameras from Hdew with the same level of savings (25%) and their service was excellent - delivery - phone - email so would use again.

Yeah the Panamoz issue have been solved as they refunded my money! I couldn't find any D750 without flare issue on sale. That's why I've decided that to go with a "cheaper" camera and buy some good full frame lenses. I've got the camera with slight delay but no lens and the time is crucial for me.
When the time has came to by D750 I will have the lenses. In my opinion the D7100 will be a good backup camera. Please let me know if you think my idea is right!

Just received my 6D from HDEW, nicely packed & on time complete with a 3 year warranty card.

However I'm not convinced that they are legally declared imports unless you insist on a VAT receipt before you part with your cash.

I've got my VAT receipt without asking them, about the camera and the lens as well. But my lens hasn't arrived yet. Now I'm waiting for respond on my refund.

Ordered my Canon 100-400mm Mk2 on Thursday and received it by FedEx this morning with emailed updates from HDEW during the transaction. I couldn't be happier! A VAT receipt was included and so as far as I'm concerned I'm legal and the wretched taxman can **** off!

No warranty card included but with a receipt why would would that matter?

I bought my camera from hdew can't fault them yes most of the stuff is grey imports but is backed up by themselves ( they have been running for quite a while ) crossed fingers haven't needed to use warranty yet

Getting close to my planned upgrade and thinking of a Canon 70D

Was definitely going down the used route but looking on the HDEW website they are doing them new for £599 which is only £100 more than the typical used price on ebay etc

Very tempting just to buy new. I wouldn't be getting a three year warranty on one purchased from ebay.

....You will doubtless have already done all your research about what to upgrade to, but I found the 70D an excellent camera in all respects and only upgraded to a 7D Mark II because it was more specifically targeted at the kind of photography I specialise in - Wildlife.

I bought my 70D from Park Cameras, sold it privately and have bought my 7D Mark II from Park as well. As this whole thread is testimony to, HDEW are probably the best 'grey' package available and they should not be judged on price alone as there are other factors to seriously consider to gain peace-of-mind. I bought my Canon 100-400mm L II from HDEW and would recommend them. I was previously very apprehensive about buying 'grey'.

Any luck with the guide books @Red Robin?

....Have found a couple of downloadable digital guides so far and another due fairly soon. So I am holding back before deciding which, if any, to buy. Will post in the 7D Mark II thread when I have more info rather than here in the HDEW thread.

LOL! Sorry all I have no idea how my post ended up in here.

Just bought my Canon 6D from them, which arrived yesterday, great comms & fast delivery.:):clap:

We went through a similar situation to this in 1999 with regard to new car sales and the "Rip Off Britain" campaign.

Essentially cars were typically the same total retail price in every EU country BUT the vat ( or equivalent ) was very different.

If you bought a high value car in a high vat country but paid the vat exclusive price as you were registering it in the UK which had a relatively low vat rate then it made economic sense albeit a short term one as the "imported" cars attracted much less a price when trade in time came round.

Like these cameras the cars of course we're made in the same factories wherever they were intended to be sent to.

Ordered my D5300 from them on Monday, arrived this morning. Dead chuffed with it.

Sam

I assume the lenses in stock from hdew are sourced from outside Europe ?
Thinking of buying a tamron which is a European 5 yr warranty only
cheers

How are Hdew with after sales issues? After extensive testing, my few month old Nikon D7000, I feel pretty sure it has focus problems.

I would e-mail first off explaining the problem & see what they say.:)

Yes but will carry out a few more tests today as so far I've assumed it's been the lenses.

In what way, John?
Is it the same with different lenses?

Hi Carl
My camera is a Nikon D7000 and my lens are Nikon 35mm 1.8, Nikon 40mm 2.8, Nikon 55-200mm and Sigma 70-300 and all have much sharper focus in live view than in viewfinder. All these lenses worked extremely well on my Nikon D5100 without any faffing. I've tried the fine tune, for all lenses but all need to go to -15 or even -20 and even then the live view is sharper. Just tried calling Hdew but answerphone so could be on Easter Hols?

If they are all that far out, it sounds like it might well be a body problem. Zooms are a s0d to fine-tune & can't be relied on for accuracy, but if your primes are way off it sounds like it's the body.

I guess they'll be closed until Tues, but you might have a chance Sat. morn?

Tried several times but no reply so may give up for today but try in the morning (y)

Ordered Sunday PM, delivered Wednesday AM, you can't fault that for service and the big saving keeps me going back to them.

Rang this morning just before 10.00 am and spoke to very pleasant man called Shaun who sent an email with instructions where to send the camera for repair at 10.01 am before we'd done talking. So excellent so far :)

Ordered a new camera and grip from them on Tuesday, couple of emails received acknowledging the order and saying its processing but no info on expected delivery date which would be nice

I've ordered stuff from DigitalRev in the past without issue albeit the delivery times were a couple of weeks

No issue for me using grey imports, they are all made in the same factory!

Hi, I am considering either the Canon 6D or the yet to be released Canon 760D. As far as the 6D goes looked at Panamoz and Hdew.
At Hdew £899.00 + £10 P&P at Panamoz £944 or £896.80 free P&P with paymaent via BT so my question here is Panamoz telling porkies with the special offer if you pay BT?
My view is that at least Hdew are giving an honest price in the first place?
Thanks
Russ

No porkies, you do get the 5% discount if you pay directly. But you have far less consumer protection - having said that I've yet to hear anyone get done by Panamoz.
I'd go with HDEW if the price was that close. At least they have a UK presence.

Email today and tracking reference sent by HDEW stating next working day delivery which should be Monday

As long as it's on time that's delivery in 6 days

Hi, Bought from HDew and delivered within 3 days but as I don't live in the UK and first visit home will be around 6th May will have to wait to see the camera, however had it delivered to my daughter and she opened to check the package and the actual Canon box has no seal on it! is this normal with the grey imports please?
Thanks
Russ

They generally take out the warranty card.

I bought my second item from HDEW last week - A Canon BG-E16 battery grip. Ordered Monday morning and it arrived Thursday morning and they kept me informed of progress by email. I can't fault them. You can probably save a little bit more money, but not much, from other 'Grey' suppliers but I find it reassuring to be able to pick up the phone and talk to someone and even to visit their UK premises should the need arise.

ALL camera goods are imported into the UK so why pay more for the same goods.

My camera came on time

Bit miffed they sent a bigger kit lens box with the camera in instead of just the camera box so they could stuff the other parts of my order in it but hey ho that's why it was £150 cheaper than a UK bought one
